"report: deportations could shutter restaurants across the US"

Cheap labor lowers prices or keeps them stable?
Horse--it.
I sold new homes about 15 years ago.
Homebuilders would continually raise prices on their new homes even though there was a surfeit of wetbacks here in texas.
Homebuilders captured the increased margins.
Home buyers got screwed.

I just saw Scripps warn about the "problems" with deporting 15 million illegals.
"The economy would COLLAPSE. No demand for products,no workers in restaurants and farms would cause inflation."
At the worst, less demand means lower prices(a good thing),but connecting the idea that less spicano workers leads to higher prices is a wish by Scripps. There's a difference between the invaders coming in by the millions and going on welfare and the mex who temporarily come up to work farms and then go back. The latter option is better--for every U S. citizen.

Once illegals get a foothold at a workplace, non-Spanish speakers find they are shut out and cannot get hired. A long time ago I worked for a large national construction company in New Mexico. All the workers were Americans--one guy was Hispanic but he was born and raised there. I doubt you will find places today where illegals haven't taken over construction.

Cesar Chavez, who is widely viewed as a hero by the left, was rabidly anti illegal immigration. He formed para military groups who patrolled the border to stop illegals from crossing. He well understood that the corporate agri and construction sectors wanted to flood the market with illegals which drove the wages and benefits down for legal migrants. In the 80's a street got named for him here in the progressive paradise of pdx, and I guarantee not one of those vacuous lefties that pushed for the name change knew what he really believed in.
