Libertarianism used to be known as "classical liberalism." But then FDR perverted the term "liberal" to be a euphemism for socialism. And so, someone coined the term "libertarianism."
Once upon a time, intellectual giants like Milton Friedman (1912-2006) and the middle-aged Friedrich Hayek (1899-1992) championed libertarianism. Friedman liked to say that you can't have open borders and a welfare state. In middle-age, Hayek critiqued galloping state power. However, late in life, he waved off those interested in justice.
Over time, libertarianism degenerated into glibertarianism, as for well-to-do glibs, their ideology is but a rationalization for unlimited drugs and abortions, and a machine to print money. They also like to curse a lot, and often support racist, black cut-throats, and hate policemen.
Whether libs or glibs, they never took a stand against so-called civil rights (black supremacist racial privilege). I brought this up on a discussion thread of a "thing" by prominent, glib law professor Richard Epstein circa 2010, and Epstein or the Gauleiter promptly deleted my comment.
I heard the name "Julie Borowski" years ago, then forgot it, but I just stumbled onto her. Here, she's defending one dead ideology (glibertarianism) against a brain-dead neo-Nazi (Richard Spencer).

"alt-right key figure Richard Spencer showed up at the international students for liberty conference! should we ignore him?"
N.S.: What a cutie-pie! She's also obviously very bright, but first and foremost, she's a cutie-pie! I hope she has kids, because I'd hate to see her genes die with her.
@Bombadilspipe "This is a culture war. It is not a race war. Chinese, Indian, etc.; if they go to church, cherish western values, and/or cleave to the selfless modus of Western Christian science and civilization, and on top are highly educated and benefit American society, they are closer to the American story than you and Richard Spencer's nihilism. Isn't it sad that you and Spencer have to resort to white identity to find worth in yourself as a human being?"
N.S.: Well, since it's 1954, sure it's a "culture war."
Wait a cotton-pickin' moment! Even in 1954, it wasn't a culture war, it was a class war that the white ruling class waging on the White working class. However, circa 1944, blacks began waging a race war on those Whites who had to deal with them. Over time, with the help of the aforementioned white ruling class, blacks spread their race war, and the white ruling class transformed their class war into a conscious race war.
"Conservatives" and glibertarians (glibs, for short) only speak of "culture war," because they're too cowardly to speak of what is really going on.

TheOrigen89 Then how do you explain Hall & Oates? One blond white guy and one Middle-Eastern-type guy playing American Black music? How do you explain Elvis Presley and his voice? How do you explain The Beatles? How do you even explain Shakespeare, who Nietzsche famously described as a synthesis of English, Spanish, and Moorish tastes, who's work and even style has became one of the most cherished and feted heirlooms of English culture?
N.S.: @Bombadilspipe Boy, are you ever full of crap! Oates is at least 88% White, and they never sang "black music," they sang Daryl Hall's music. What's there to "explain" about the Beatles? Elvis Presley? And either you made up that line about Nietzsche, or he wrote it on a bad day. Either way, it's idiotic, and you made a fallacious argument from authority.

Over the last 5 centuries,Whites are the only racial group who have striven to keep improving themselves. Other groups jumped on our coat tails for the ride. That's history in a nutshell.
