His shuck and jive was at times, patronizing, pandering, unintentionally hilarious and done with that faux intellectual bombast that negroes love (because saying mundane things with a lot of gravity makes them feel smart). You can't help but laugh at the sheer stupid audacity of it. Toward the end, I kid you not, he says this:
"When you get back in that room, there'll be subjects you think about...I be amazed, sometimes as what jurors think about and I know with this cross section there'll be a lot of fat (or did he say phat, or that?) goodness coming out of it...."
Who the h*%$l would put that in a closing statement? Haven't heard something that stupid since: "If it does not fit, you must acquit". What you pick up on though is that while he never said anything explicit about race he clearly was appealing to the "falsely accused black man" myth in a sneaky way.
Check out his co counsel, is it female or male? Haven't seen anything that ugly since Christopher Darden sitting next to Marcia Clark.
Black judge, two black defense attorney's and an all White prosecution for a black man accused of raping and murdering a White woman. Who could miss the symbolism of modern racial politics in this one? DNA evidence was ironclad though, all the shuck and jive couldn't explain it away so they couldn't get him off.
There's a bunch of videos on Youtube on this case, none show the jury though but judging from what the defense attorney said, it's a mixed group. Don't know if it was White majority but it must have been, otherwise he may well have gotten off.
