Fifty percent of black doctorate-holders got their degree in education. It’s an idiot-degree that is reducible to a political loyalty oath.
If you’re White and fail to make the oath, the commissars running your program will destroy your life, and cost you everything you’ve spent on your education. But if you’re black, the opposite situation obtains. You have to protect yourself against laminated, flying degrees at every level that administrators will fling at you on campus. Myron Pope’s football helmet will have come in handy, in that regard.

And on top of that, he’d been in charge of Student Life at his alma mater, the University of Alabama, until he was forced out, after getting caught in a prostitution sting.
