TCM’s Film Noir of the Week for Saturday Night-Sunday Morning at Midnight ET (and 10 a.m. ET Sunday Morning) is Too Late for Tears (1949), starring Lizabeth Scott, Dan Duryea, Don Defore and Arthur Kennedy.

Scott, the loot, and Kennedy

Scott and Kennedy are a married couple who have a bag containing $60,000 thrown into their open convertible. The money causes marital problems when Scott wants to keep it, and Kennedy wants to turn it in to the police.

Scott is a greedy femme fatale who wants to be rich. Duryea is a crooked P.I. in his usual bad-guy role. Defore is a mysterious stranger helping Kennedy's sister (Kristine Miller), who wants to know why her brother suddenly vanished.

Film Noir Guide: “Also known as Killer Bait, this is a fast-moving and enjoyable crime drama.”

This book is invaluable for film buffs: https://www.amazon.com/Byron-Haskin-Interview-Adamson-Directors/dp/0810817403/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1544171563&sr=1-3&keywords=BYRON+HASKIN Haskin was erratic and a bit of a BS artist, but the details of his career are fascinating, especially his stories about working at WB with the likes of Barrymore and Curtiz. (link provided for information purposes only- I don't do business with Amazon, and neither should you! Suggest getting it on Ebay instead)

TCM's Film Noir of the Week for Saturday Night-Sunday Morning at Midnight ET (and 19 am ET Sunday Morning) is Talk About a Stranger (1952).

It features George Murphy and Nancy Davis as a couple whose adolescent son (Billy Gray) adopts a stray dog, whereupon the dog is poisoned. The boy suspects a new neighbor (Kurt Kasznar).

Film Noir Guide: "This is a disquieting film, in which the lead character, a young boy, is so deeply disturbed by what he perceives to be a terrible injustice that he seeks an adult-like vengeance on the perpetrator." And "...there are some scenes that might startle even the hardened horror fan."

George Murphy was a U.S> Senator from California, beating JFK's press secretary Pierre Salinger in 1964 and losing the seat to John Tunney in 1970. Nancy Davis became Nancy Reagan. Billy Gray played the son, "Bud," on Father Knows Best, the long-running TV sitcom.
