FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – Detectives are investigating a shooting that left a couple dead and their two children injured Monday inside a house in Fort Bend County.

Deputies said they were called to the house in the 4800 block of Russett Lane shortly after 6 a.m. They found a husband and wife dead at the scene.

Investigators said the couple’s 15-year-old daughter, who received a gunshot wound, managed to call 911 to report the incident. Her 11-year-old brother also suffered from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported via Life Flight to Memorial-Hermann Hospital. They both underwent surgery and were listed in stable condition.

A handgun was retrieved at the scene, deputies said.

Deputies said there were no signs of forced entry at the home.

“She has a daycare in Rosenberg, and he has a convenience store. I mean a very happy family I don’t know what went wrong over here,” said Nimet Lakhani, a church friend.

Qudsia Taqva, who lives next door to the victims, said the boy and her son would play together often. She said she was shaken by the news.

“I was surprised because they are very calm people, they never used to shout or anything like that,” she said. “I just want to know what happened, who killed who.”

The victims’ names have not been released.
