Is that move by Venezuela what triggered the US to take action? The US is essentially self sufficient in oil and considered a net exporter but the Western banks control the value of the petrodollar by manipulating the amount of oil on the market so do they want the largest oil reserves in the world to be under the control of a rival trade organization? Russia and BRICS have been working to create an alternative to the petrodollar called the "petroyuen":

Some sources say that the ouster of Hussein and Gadaffi were due to their attempts to create alternative currencies to the dollar. Taking a deeper dive into this brings up some conflicting information but is it coincidence that large amounts of oil often seem to be convergence points for conflict?
