If I was black...

Anonymous said... If I was black, I'd be so p.o'ed about the fact that, if I went out for a walk or drove to a store and I KNEW there was a decent chance of getting shot by a fellow black,I'd be storming city hall--hopefully with a few thousand others, saying:"Get these thugs off the street." That would mean squealing on friends, relatives--whomever--but reading about these incidents is mind-blowing. But then,I'm White and blacks have a different lifestyle and mindset--of stupidity. --GRA Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 2:46:00 PM EST

The shooting happened just after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, at the Kroger near the intersection of Ford Road and Central City Parkway.

First responders found 47-year-old Alvin Leon Echol inside the store with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died at the scene.

The suspect had fled the store before the police arrived, leading to a manhunt across a section of Wayne County. The suspect was identified and arrested Friday, Dec. 19.

Rene Miguel Zambrana was charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm on Monday, Dec. 22. He was denied bond.

Police believe Echol and Zambrana knew each other.
