“delay, deny, and depose”: What was the meaning of the words the killer of united healthcare ceo Brian Thompson inscribed on his shell casings?

Those three words on the bullet casings came from the variation of a book title called, deny, delay, and defend—by Jay Feinman—which investigated how to beat insurance companies who refuse to pay for services.

When gunslingers leave signature clues like this, they get caught, more often than not. He may have even offed himself—as the gunman was at a heightened, desperate moment in his life.

Or he goes on from here—alive—satisfied with his pushback against the system. We might never know.

Over at ZH, the stoners' response to the killing is to rant about the awfulness of insurance companies. As if the murder was justified, along with the complicitness of the media bimbo (another celebrity I never heard of!). My take is different: if you're going to this extreme to "fight the system" (assuming that was the real motive), I can think of a lot more prominent people that ought to be [REDACTED- I shouldn't trust the internet].

AND- How does someone get away with shooting someone in midtown, in broad daylight, on a crowded street, without being stopped afterward? No one saw where he went, or got a license number if he had a vehicle? And besides that, his face is clearly recorded on a security camera (which he smiles for), and authorities are unable to identify him? We know that minorities get away with this sort of thing, but this is different- a "hit," not a typical street incident. Oh, and he leaves a message on his shell casings!

Where's Dick Tracy when you need him?

The only "Tracy's" around these days are all nig*ers--and their forte isn't solving crimes.

I see Mike Curtis took over from Chester Gould, but I had no idea "Dick Tracy" was even being drawn anymore until tonight. I haven't read an actual newspaper in years

Chester Gould was brilliant- "The Complete Dick Tracy," which I've been reading, is a must (pre-1960s, anyway). There's a lesson there which is obvious, but has been thrown away by society- that criminals LOOK like criminals, and people should be judged (firstly) by appearance, which is most times a good marker of behavior and intellect. When WW2 came around, Mr. Gould had to keep up with reality by inventing really over-the-top grotesques. And the violence in the strips is incredible- something you'd NEVER see today! Great stuff!

I guess my point in the original post was that the concept of crime as something to be logically solved doesn't even seem to exist anymore (well, outside of DNA testing)- are detective stories and police procedurals even being written anymore?

WHAT'S IN A NAME?,ADAMS SAYS HE MIGHT SWITCH TO REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Friday, Dec 06, 2024 - 01:20 PM
(ZH)New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, has left the door open to returning to the Republican Party - a move that would upend the political dynamics in the nation’s largest city. In a pair of Friday morning interviews, Adams - who was a member of the GOP from 1995 to 2002, refused to rule out a switch back to the Republican Party.

“I’m a part of the American party,” Adams told NY1 when asked directly about his political future. He reiterated the sentiment in a subsequent interview on PIX11, emphasizing that his allegiance lies with “American values” over partisan lines. “No matter what party I’m on or vote on, I’m going to push for American values,” he declared, urging leaders to work beyond political affiliations to solve voters’ problems.

GRA:He's a member of the nig party--who are 100% for the overtaking of this country by blacks--just as nyc, chicago, balt, atlanta etc have been annexed by joggers--and the mass implementation of "black law" on all of us.
