Was the cowardly cop who ran down his ladder, when would-be presidential assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks pointed his rifle at him, a transfer from the Uvalde PD? Had he once been cowering in the bushes at Margery Stoneham Douglas high school? It just goes to show that we must all surrender our right to self-defense to the government (#52)

I’m still wondering about the policeman that climbed the ladder and saw the shooter. Details on what happened are still sketchy:

The article suggests he didn’t intervene because both hands were on the ladder so he couldn’t shoot a gun and didn’t want to get shot himself. I can’t find an actual recreation of the scene online but if he was coming up over the side of the building he should have been able to drop down a couple of rungs for cover and pulled his gun.

I could do that on a ladder, even at my age. It would be dangerous of course, maybe the shooter would have rushed him and shot down at him, or maybe been waiting to shoot him if he popped back up but cops don’t hesitate to do that sort of thing on ncis or any other cop show! So real life cops aren’t gung ho courageous heroes willing to risk their lives to rescue innocents like they are on TV? Maybe that cop doesn’t think of Trump or his supporters as innocents. Or maybe this guy is an Uvalde police force transfer?

From what I read, he went up the ladder to investigate and when he saw Crooks (or vice versa), Crooks turned his ar-15 at the cop, prompting a retreat (a fall?). It sounds like he wasn’t expecting to see a sniper/assassin, though I don’t know why not, as witnesses reported just that.

Is this cop going to remain unidentified? He shouldn’t be.

We’ll see.

Indeed. If the shooter turned toward the cop with the rifle in his hands, rifle pointing at the cop or not, the officer of the law would have obliged to kill the villain right there and then.
