Update (0013ET): The shooter has been identified by the NY Post as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel park, PA. According to sources, Crooks was planted on the roof of a manufacturing plant over 130 yards away from the stage at Butler Farm Show Grounds.

Former President Donald Trump was released from the hospital late Saturday after he said he was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of his right ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Jonathan Alter was interviewed about the "incident" and he brought up J.D. Vance again.Alter whined that "you shouldn't say that people who accuse Trump of ending democracy are responsible for this.You CANNOT say that."
Alter's suggestion?"We need to get rid of Trump in the political arena,so the country won't be divided.Someone new needs to show up for Republicans,who will decrease the divide."
I'm sure he'd like a blackie,trannie,to lead a Republican ticket to go with a blackie,trannie to lead a democratic ticket.

Elsewhere it's been noted how Wikipedia changed article's title from "assassination attempt" to "shooting at rally".
Mark Steyn picks and sticks with the most apt title: What They Wanted. And efficiently sums it up: "this is a catastrophic security failure by the Secret Service" and "This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better."
And how about that Presidential President J. Biden? He took the time to issue a statement even though it was AFTER 4 P.M.
