Couldn't find his bow and arrow to do the deed?Had to resort to a gun?The inference of the story is,this was an Indian perp.
Of course,we must then fade into an updated version of "The Lone Ranger".
Lone Ranger:Tonto,where have you been all day?

"That's not true anymore--marijuana is legal these days--you didn't get arrested?"

(Minutes later,sirens heard--cops pull in).
Cop:"Look--the piles of horse sh*t ends right here--still warm.Hey,Injun,is that YOUR horse?
"No--that's Kemosabe's nag."
"Officer Suarez,take a sample from that horse's behind and compare it to what we found on the road the last 30 miles."
Suarez:"I hate my job."
Lone Ranger(walking back from--coincidentally--"seeing a man about a horse"):To what do we owe the honor of San Antonio's finest paying us a visit?
Cop(looking around):"San Antonio's finest"?Who--US?
Suarez(wearing a clothespin on his nose):It's a match.
Cop:Injun says,that's your horse--you're under arrest.
Lone Ranger:That's a LIE--it's his horse.
Cop:Doesn't matter--we can't arrest Indians anymore--or blacks,Mexicans,Chinese or Muslims--just Whites.
Lone Ranger:In that case,I,as the resourceful,masked rider of the Plains,will leave here and lead the fight for law and order in other areas of the country.From out of the past,the thundering hoof-beats of the great horse Silver,will come to take me away from...
Cop:We confiscated the horse.
Lone Ranger:It was a lot better in the 1950s.

We must not criticize them. They are a very proud people. They were here first too. Most of all they are very proud.
