Funny thing, Oliver Stone for decades has been an Idiot Savant for the left.
N.S.: I'm confused. For years, Stone was a skilled, and sometimes brilliant, communist propagandist. In Salvador 1986, he romanticized the Sandinistas. In Platoon (also 1986), he argued that it was good for us to lose the war to the Communists. In JFK (1991), he reversed reality, in arguing that the assassination was a fascist plot. In Natural Born Killers (1994), he promoted nihilistic savagery.
He made one masterpiece, Born on the Fourth of July (1989), which I recently watched again, after 31 years. It was every bit as good as I remembered it being, and yet it was still commie propaganda, albeit on an exquisite level, as if Jack Ford had been reincarnated.
