I used to live just a few miles from the Mexican border but I have never been to Mexico. Once I decided to walk across the bridge but the closer I got to Mexico the worse things looked. Finally I told my companion, "Let's just go to a nice place in New Mexico." People I worked with told me stories of spending a night in a Mexican jail because they failed to give the Mexican police money during a shakedown. Hearing many other stories from people who visited or even lived there, nothing I heard made want to go there at all. I know some stupid Chinese who planned on going to Mexico when the border opened July 21. I thought that was a dumb idea because flying down there was a great way to get the Wuhan Virus and because I doubted that the border would open July 21, but guess they never thought of that. I worked with one guy whose suit hung off his skeletal body like rags on a scarecrow. He has suffered from dysentery for 6 months--caught in Mexico. He said he had had every color of diarrhea there was. Getting sick, getting harassed or worse by crooked cops, and trying to avoid dangerous criminals is not my idea of a good time. When the plague is over I'll vacation in beautiful, clean, safe Utah.
