I story like this in PDX wouldn't be complete without a little human interest on the subject. Invariably when the perp in a crime is brown or black there is an attempt to "humanise" them and make them seem less evil, something that doesn't happen when they are white. Note they "interview" Noorah's host and she describes Noorah as being shy, studious, generous and one of the nicest people she'd ever met. I'll bet she says that about all the foreign students that stay with her (according to the article she's hosted dozens of them). Why do I have the feeling they are almost all young men? The article did mention Noorah's previous 17 parking violations, suspended license and lack of insurance but failed to address the inner arrogance that would have caused a foreigner like that to ignore driving rules, an arrogance that led him to tear down a busy commercial street at 55 miles per hour, swerve around another car and strike a young girl crossing the street.
Despite the fact that this girl was a lesbian and active in the LGBT community the local progressives stayed silent about Noorah and instead focused on traffic safety issues in the Hawthorne neighborhood where Ms. Smart was killed. That way the hypocrites could focus on the local "government" and deflect away from the dreadlock wearing negroid looking Saudi Arabian migrant "looking for a better life" here in the US.
And yes, the Saudi's helped him to escape justice. He'll likely never be extradited back to the US, the Saudi's will make sure of that.
