TCM's Film Noir of the Week at 12:15 am ET Saturday Night-Sunday morning, and again at 10 am ET Sunday morning is Pitfall (1948).

Powell and Scott

Pitfall stars Dick Powell, Lizabeth Scott, Jane Wyatt, and Raymond Burr. Powell is a successful insurance agent bored with his wife (Jane Wyatt) and his home life in the suburbs. He has an affair with a model (Scott). When Scott discovers Powell’s character is married, she ends the affair.

Burr and Scott

Raymond Burr, film noir's best "heavy," plays a shady private investigator with designs on Scott. Burr makes life hell for Powell's family. Meanwhile Scott's boyfriend (Byron Barr) is released from prison on parole.

Byron Barr

Noir icons Scott, Burr, and Powell make this good film noir viewing.

Pitfall can be viewed for free here, but be forewarned: The reception ain't the greatest.

TCM's Film Noir of the Week for Saturday Night-Sunday morning at Midnight ET is The Man Who Cheated Himself (1950). It stars Lee J. Cobb, John Dall, and Jane Wyatt cast against type as the femme fatale.

The Man Who Cheated Himself has a typical noir plot--a good cop goes bad for a woman. Cobb's homicide detective has an affair with Wyatt, who thinks her estranged husband is going to kill her. She shoots the husband and has Cobb cover up the crime.

Dall plays Cobb's younger brother, who is also a detective, and both are assigned to the case. Cobb's character tries to steer him away from the truth.

TCM repeats the film at 10 am ET, Sunday, June 25.
