A man was shot dead Thursday night while bragging about stealing drugs, witnesses told police.
Isreal Pacheco, 39, was gunned down about 8:30 p.m. on the 2200 block of West Laurel near Culebra Road, police said.
Witnesses reportedly told officers that Pacheco earlier that day had been showing off and laughing about stealing drugs from someone. He did not appear to be in fear for his safety, the witnesses said.
As he walked out of the home on Laurel Street with one of the witnesses, they noticed a vehicle occupied by two men outside the location. The vehicle's passenger walked out and began to shoot toward Pacheco, according to an incident report.
Police found Pacheco lying face-up in the doorway of the front door. He was bleeding heavily and breathing hard as he was rushed to University Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The witnesses were unable to describe the shooter and his driver, and a description of the vehicle was not available early Friday.
The witnesses could not tell police who Pacheco had stolen the drugs from.
