The Murder of Nawal Aysheh: Are Chicago Authorities and the MSM Trying to Bury an Honor Killing?

Ibrahim Aysheh, 22, left, was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Unlawful Use of Weapon in the death of his sister, Nawal Aysheh, 20, right. (handout (Ibrahim Aysheh), facebook.com (Nawal Aysheh) / October 15, 2012)

At 7:15 p.m. tonight, my reader, Chicago guy, wrote:

This last Saturday Nawal Aysheh, a 20 yr old female Muslim, was shot in the head and killed in her home. The report in the media simply described it as “domestic related.” Her own brother, Ibrahim Aysheh, has now been charged with involuntary manslaughter. His being a gang member was emphasized in the media report. I seriously wonder if this isn't really a so-called “honor killing” with the media avoiding that angle.
If Chicago Guy is right, this is a scandal on several levels. If this was an honor killing, it’s first-degree murder. Because the killing has been called “accidental,” it will be counted as a homicide (one person killing another), but not as a murder. Thus, the misleading identification would aid in the Chicago PD’s ongoing statistical legerdemain. Undercharging a member of an unconstitutionally protected class would also be a case of criminal justice affirmative action; instead of potentially facing a sentence of “life without (read: until) parole,” the killer would be looking at only a few years inside. And it would (should) be a journalistic scandal, due to the media covering up a case of first degree murder committed by a murderous ideology and immigrant group.

An additional question is raised by the bail: Who gets hit with $1M bond for an accidental killing? First-degree murder, I could understand, but involuntary man?

Man ordered held on $1M bond in younger sister's killing

A man on supervision for a weapons conviction accidentally shot and killed his 20-year-old sister in their Northwest Side home over the weekend while showing her a pistol he claimed he had found on the street, prosecutors said today.

Ibrahim Aysheh, 22, was ordered held on $1 million bond on charges of involuntary manslaughter and unlawful use of weapon by a felon.

Aysheh and his sister, Nawal, were alone in his bedroom in the 4800 block of West Wolfram Street at about 9:10 a.m. Saturday when he showed her a .380 caliber handgun that he said he had “found hidden on the street,” Assistant State’s Atty. Yulia Nikolaevskaya said.

Aysheh took the clip out of the gun, saw that it was empty, put it back and pulled the trigger, Nikolaevskaya said.

“The gun went off and the defendant saw his sister fall to the ground,” Nikolaevskaya said. While he picked her up and carried her out of the house, their other sister called 911 and then hid the gun in a dog food bag in the basement, the prosecutor said.

Nawal Aysheh was pronounced dead a short time later at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. She suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.

Ibrahim Aysheh, identified by police as a gang member, later gave a videotaped statement admitting to the accidental shooting, prosecutors said.

At the time of the shooting, Aysheh was still on court supervision for a conviction for unlawful use of a weapon, Nikolaevskaya said. He had violated his probation in that case in 2011 and was sentenced to the Cook County boot camp program, she said.

[So, he got probation instead of jail, violated probation, and merely got “more” probation.]

On March 21, 2011, he was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a gun with a defaced serial number, records show. But he was found not guilty of the charges in a bench trial on Sept. 30, 2011.

This wasn't an honor killing. One look t the suspect and see that its a muslim your mind wanders. This type of tradegy happens to anybody. It can happen to a christian family. Would you label them as killing the sister as it being an honor killing? This accident was simply an accident. This is a normal family, that live normally but have dealt with this young man and his problems. This kid has been a trouble maker in that family. He neglicted his probation when he picked up that gun, took it home, assumed it was empyt, and was playing around with th gun and then before he knew it, his sister is on the floor bleeding.

There was no honor killing, this young girl was set to get married soon. This young man was going to finish his probation and his parents wanted to take him back to middle east to get his life back around. Yesturday was the funeral of this girl, last Monday was her engagment party. Accidents happen in every family. The parents now have to deal with two children gone. One in prison, one dead. The brother now has his sisters death on him. Something he is going to have to live with.

Muslim people live regular lives. They dress the same way you do in the morning, go to school, work. But muslims are human too. Muslim children fall in to a bad mix of people and they become troubled and need help getting back in to the right direction. Pointing to a person and saying this was an honor killing or a terriorist attack just makes you sound ignorant and uneducated and take your sourced and information from the meda who would sell the line you were selling with your article.

Ask around, look around, don't go assuming just because with this accid3ent, which happens a lot with misuse of a weapen, that in this particular accident there is somethin more to it just because you see from the out layer that this family is a muslim.

This family is grieving right now, just like any other famil would. Think about that before you try and taint the death of the girl and the arrest of the boy.

Racist, uneducated, follower.

I agree with the previous comment. Nicholas, do a little home work before posting your unwarranted thoughts. We can't let Islamophobic tendencies blind us to reality. The kid was a trouble maker, on probation, and apparently wearing an ankle bracelet. His sister was engaged to be married, went to college, played track in high school---the kids were born and raised in the USA. An American family with American problems and an American tragedy. It is sad that you see the name and the head scarf and assume the worst. During your life, you have probably been cared for at some point by a Muslim doctor, been driven home from the airport by a Muslim taxi driver, and bought some merchandise from a Muslim retailer. Look at people as humans first--give them all the benefit of the doubt. Intolerance is the root of so much of the evil in the world--not religion--not Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, etc.

"This type of tradegy happens to anybody."

Are you kidding me?

"Aysheh took the clip out of the gun, saw that it was empty, put it back and pulled the trigger, Nikolaevskaya said."

Let's see now; he knows the weapon is magazine fed. Therefore, he KNOWS the weapon MAY have a round in the chamber. So he puts the clip back in and presses the trigger with the barrel pointed at his sister's head. "This accident was simply an accident."

That's no accident. It's criminal. The only thing in question is motivation.

The story doesn't add up. He claims he "found" the gun somewhere on the street, as though guns are found just laying around on sidewalks somewhere. If it was "hidden" then how'd he find it? The shooting was an accident, he says. I guess we just have to take his word for it, I suppose, since a wonderful person like this wouldn't lie. Pretty good aim for an accident, right in the head. Another peculiarity: if someone were to accidentally shoot someone else in their home, what purpose would there be in carrying the victim outside? Wouldn't they try to staunch the bleeding or assist her on the spot where she lay? Another thing is the behavior of the other sister; she went and hid the gun right away. Is that what people do when an unexpected tragedy occurs suddenly? Pretty fast thinking on her part. Spinning it as an accident to minimize the penalty is what any streetwise defendant would do. Never mind testimonials from people who weren't there, just look at the facts themselves and draw your own conclusions.

Here is the real story: the victim was a lesbian. She came home too late that night and got smacked around by her brother because he didnt approve of her lifestyle. That following morning, her other brother confronted him and during the argument/fight, the one that slapped her pulled a gun. She ran over to seperate them and accidentally got shot.

So, it had elements of an honor killing or whatever you want to call it, but not really enough for the detectives to make a case for that. Lesbian or not, i did know the victim and she was a real nice person.

Wait, how do you know this story? Who told you about it? That she was out the night before? The killing happened in the morning. Also it happened in her brothers room where he and her were alone. I mean she was going to get married and stuff. I don't know. I don't think I believe the story you just said. Did she openly say to people she knew at her school she was a lesbian or what? I am curious. Because this person is a reliative of mine, but I don't know her well she lived in another state then I did so don't know much about her or her family. I know her sister only.

Fuck every person that's talking shot about my family

Actually what they are saying is true she was a lesbian i a man had a relatiinship with her for a short time and she confessed to me she liked women but her religion did not allow that. On one ocassion i recall her not being allowed to leave the house because the family found out she was gay. They told her she better stop being gay or they would send her to jordan her native country and she would be killed although i was a close friend of her brother i believe it may have been done purposely but i cannot say for sure as i wasnt there when it happened
