101st Assn. asking for help for D-Day veteran
90 year-old brutally beaten, wife murdered last month in Tulsa, Okla. home invasion

FORT CAMPBELL, KY. — The 101st Airborne Division Association is asking its members and other Screaming Eagle veterans to step up and help one of their own – a 90 year-old division veteran of D-Day who nearly died as a result of a brutal home invasion last month.
Bob Strait of Tulsa, Okla. is still in hospice following a vicious March 14 robbery that left him barely alive but which ended his journey through life together with 85 year-old Nancy Strait, who died after being beaten and raped in the attack.
The couple, who met on a blind date on Thanksgiving Day of 1946, had been married for 65 years.
Police have one suspect in custody, but believe as many as four others took part in the home invasion. Tyrone Dale David Woodfork, 20, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, burglary, assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of armed robbery.
One of the Strait’s daughters, Lenore Gay, said the investigation is ongoing, but she is unhappy that Tulsa police have mustered nowhere near the resources in her parent’s case as those applied to a nationally-reported shooting spree in Tulsa that occurred at around the same time.
While the shootings of five people in Tulsa’s predominantly black north side made national headlines, the horrific attack on the Straits was not reported beyond the state of Oklahoma except for an article in the English newspaper, The Daily Mail.
Gay is hugely grateful for any financial help on behalf of her family, but has also asked members of the 101st Airborne Division Association to contact Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett and ask that a task force be set up immediately to find the remaining suspects still at-large in her parents’ case.
Speaking of her father, Gay said that he rarely ever talked about being in World War II, although he still has nightmares about the war to this day.
“He wouldn’t accept veterans aid for anything after the war,” Gay said, “since he felt like he was only doing his job like everyone else.
“He put his life on the line back then and he deserves to be taken care of now. We’re still trying to get him to accept some kind of government assistance, but during the war, he wouldn’t even accept a Purple Heart because he felt that his injuries weren’t severe enough.”
101st Airborne Association Executive secretary Wayne St. Louis said that he hopes association members and others will step up generously to help the Strait family by donating to the Nancy Strait and Bob Strait Support Trust, set up through a “care account” at the Arvest Bank Tulsa branch.
Those wishing to donate can mail a check to 502 S. Main St Tulsa, Oklahoma 74103. Please include on the check's memo line that is for the Straits’ account. Where is the outrage of this vicious crime? Is black on white crime just as brutal as white one black crime? Where is the media on this one? My heart goes out to this wonderful man who was just minding his own business in his own home. Where is the main stream media?!
No trial, just shoot him & get it over with.
Today, May 4, 2012, this wonderful, brave and humble man died. My heart is broken. He is once again with his loving wife and his Lord.
Where are Al & Jackson? Justice For All or only Justice for African Americans? Their actions speak so very loudly and they have the nerve to call others, racists.
Now some of you white people know how blacks have felt for centuries.
Thankfully Mark Levin is making this known over the US & World. Maybe it will push the yellow-bellies in Tulsa to bring all the criminals in. Like Mark Levin said, thankfully Oklahoma has the death penalty
