The headline in the Knoxville News-Sentinel is “Lemaricus Davidson Pleads Guilty to Pizza Hut robbery day after 2007 Christian-Newsom torture-slayings.” Davidson pled guilty to robbing a Pizza Hut a day after the Knoxville Horror murders.
A woman whom Davidson accosted during the robbery was in court and said she forgives Davidson.
"You should know I am compelled by my faith in God to forgive you," [Becky] Hancock told Davidson. "I will walk in the power of forgiveness."
Davidson responded, "I'd like to apologize to Ms. Hancock. Thank you for your forgiveness."
The extraordinary encounter came in Knox County Criminal Court where Davidson confessed Wednesday to robbing a now-defunct Pizza Hut on Broadway and trying to rob patron Hancock just one day after Channon Christian, 21, and Christopher Newsom, 23, were slain.

This land—as in the South and the West—was settled, for the most part, by devout Christians, but they seem to have been made of sterner, less forgiving stuff than what I see among their brethren here today.

Are you saying this woman should not have forgiven this man? What is wrong with forgiving someone? That doesn't mean she condones what he has done. Your wife claims to be a christian and refuses to forgive? Jesus commands us to forgive; if we do not, then our father in heaven will not forgive us.

Considering what Davidson did to Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom, this woman has no business making a show of forgiving him.

All of this fuss over little Trayvon from almost everyone in the public eye, yet most of us never even heard about poor Chris and Channon. The truth is that they don't want the average Joe to know just how common black on white attacks are in this country, and just how savage and cruel these attacks tend to be. This case should scare every white American. They are setting a dangerous precedent that if you defend yourself from minority attacks in this country you will automatically be sacrificed on the altar of diversity to appease the rabid masses, regardless of the facts.

For a long time, Christianity in the South has been merely a white suicide pact in the face of race displacement; it is effectively not more than an enabler (if not encourager) of acquiescing to genocide. The most rabid anti-racists here are steeped in a Christian religious upbringing, though many claim to have rejected it (as "hypocritical" and "racist" - note the word "hypocritical," i.e., not forgiving and inclusive enough). Black-white relations and history are very thoroughly ground into the heads of Southerners at least as much as into the heads of Yankees, and form the undercurrent of most ethical and political discussions here. In a word, White Guilt is huge in the churchy South. "Forgiveness" is regarded as the fundamental virtue, the true mark of someone's following Christ. Christ had a duty to die; and Christians have a duty to follow Christ; so - ? Draw your own conclusion. Many religious Southerners already have.
This was embraced in Knoxville with genuine alacrity and something akin to joy - note the year, Mr. Stix. (The activities were much more widespread and intense than indicated in the link.) You can be sure that every local who was involved, even innocently, in those activities, was "raised Christian" and "knows" that the basic meaning of Christianity and/or the virtuous life is "resist not evil."
I will check the internet every day to see if Davidson is dead - he is a monster (irrespective of his race). Maybe if Becky had happened to experience a similar fate or someone in Becky's family to that of Channon and Christopher, she would choke on the word 'forgive'. You cannot forgive someone who doesn't even value a word like that. He is remorseless

If you don't want race to be an issue stop talking about it - really it is that simple!!!. Whom ever commits this type of crime against another human being, does not deserve to walk the earth, with the rest of civilised society. END OF.
Additionally, if any individual feels strongly enough 'that two wrongs don't make a right' and that criminals of this kind should be spared the death penalty, they should be made, by law, to open up their own homes, so they could risk themselves and their own families as well as having to spend all their own money and time caring for them, instead of the state. (surely this would demonstrate how authentic their feelings really are on the matter)
