If someone invites you to a birthday party in Dallas, don’t go! If someone in Dallas says he wants to throw a birthday party for you, just say no!
Dallas is a diverse city of 1,200,000 residents, yet the national media have no interest in its crime life, and the local media often give the most cursory attention to murders, before burying the story with the dead.

DALLAS - A birthday party turned deadly at a far North Dallas apartment complex on Thursday.
The fatal stabbing happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 5800 block of Preston Oaks Road.
There were conflicting reports on the details surrounding 38-year-old Clyde Shavers Jr.'s death. In an initial report from police, it stated Shavers had gotten into an argument with his stepson's friend. The conflict apparently spilled outside where the young man pulled out a knife and stabbed him.
Other witnesses stated that Shavers was breaking up a fight between the young man and his girlfriend when the stabbing occurred.
Shavers died at a nearby Dallas hospital where he was transported.
While police said they know the identity of the suspect, his name was not released. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
[N.S.: A Dallas PD press rep explained to me on October 28 that the Department never releases the names of suspects until they have been taken into custody. I was calling to inquire as to Santana Gaona, the defendant in the Jesse Labon Benavides murder.]
Friends remembered Shavers for his gentle demeanor and love of music.
"We all called him 'Pooh' growing up in Allen," said Jason Sacher, a friend. "He was a guy that fit in with every crowd he encountered. He really was liked by everyone that knew him, and I can never recall him saying anything negative about anyone else."
"As one of my friends texted me a while ago, 'I'm just going to ride my bike and listen to A Tribe Called Quest. Pooh would want it that way. Sad Day,'" he continued.
Shavers left behind a wife and young daughter. A fundraiser has been set up to help his family at the "Jamaican Me Crazy Royal Rack Event" at the House of Blues Dallas, which is where Shavers was employed. The event will take place from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. January 13 in the Cambridge Room. Donations will benefit his family.
Suspect in fatal birthday party stabbing turns himself in

DALLAS - The suspect in a fatal stabbing at a birthday party Thursday surrendered to police Friday night.
Ernest Ford, 20, turned himself in to Dallas police detectives. He was wanted for his involvement in Clyde Shavers Jr.'s death.
[N.S.: Ford wasn’t “wanted for his involvement” in Shavers’ death; he was wanted for killing Shavers. “Involvement” suggests that someone else killed Shavers, and Ford played some indirect role in the crime, say, as an accessory after the fact. Crime reporters do this all the time, as if the journalistic equivalent of mumbling would make them sound more sophisticated.]

Has anyone followed up on what happened to the murderer? Has he gone to trial yet? I was friends with Clyde.. I think about him all the time, and am wondering what the status of his murderer is... bbassman3800@yahoo.com
His killer was released on a pr bond and never really had a court date. How can this kid get away with killing one of the most amazing guys around. Dallas closed the case and is saying its okay but its not.
