Painting over green with red: The destruction of the sierra club, which was once the nation's leading environmental organization
N.S.: The Sierra Club was founded by naturalist John Muir (1838-1914) in 1892. It quickly became the nation's leading organization dedicated to protecting the natural environment, what was then known as "conservationism."
As old immigration hand Fred Elbel, whom I have known for 20 years, has previously noted, in 1995, the organization was hijacked by communist billionaire financier David Gelbaum (1950-2018). Gelbaum made a secret gift to the organization of $100 million, predicated on the condition that it give up its longtime support for limiting immigration. Since population growth is the main driver of pollution, and in America, immigration has been the main driver of population growth, Gelbaum was an anti-environmentalist.

When I get into debates with mass migration zealots, they get angry when I bring up how mass immigration is driving overpopulation in the 1st world, then tie it in with issues like pollution, deforestation and species extinction. I've been threatened, cursed out and called obscene names for saying such things. They don't tell my why I'm wrong, they just get angry and refuse to debate. This is one of the differences between old guard 60's,70's, 80's liberals, they understood that more people use more stuff, and industrialized consumer societies use even more stuff than people in less industrialized societies. Modern woke ideologues, that evolved from old guard liberals, no longer see that connection because they see "diversity" in itself as some sort of solution to the world's problems. If we just "diversify", the world will be some kind of multi cultural paradise. This thinking is so stupid and narrow, it's impossible to believe otherwise reasonably intelligent people could think that way, but they do. So, since mass migration brings us "diversity" we must worship and promote it any way possible, future environmental consequences be damned.

Gelbaum died relatively young at 68 yrs. old. Interestingly, I can't find any cause of death for him online. It's as if that information has been erased, or maybe was never disclosed, but I can't even find any speculation about his death. He wasn't exactly a superstar fame wise but he was fairly well known and made his fortune with a revolutionary way of applying mathematical formulas to the stock market. Seems like there should be more information about him.
That he made his wealth in the stock market is clue as to why he was rabidly pro open borders. He realized that a flow of cheap labor and a growing population were key to a booming stock market. Open borders means 3rd world overpopulation gets exported to the 1st world, this Gelbaum was too smart to not have realized on some level that a few nature preserves were not going to compensate for the environmental cost of a billion consumers in the US. He simply didn't care, his hubris dictated that his only concern was that the system that enabled him to become astronomically rich stayed in place.
He ain't rich no mo'.

Building a larger consumer base was one of the many reasons for promoting "diversity"- why exclude blacks when you can sell stuff to them as well as to the white suckers? TV commercials were heavily integrated in the 60s well-before the entertainment shows caught up with the trend. And when "gay liberation" gestated, and it was discovered they generally had high incomes and big spending habits... Well hey, let's cater to them as well! Big business exists only to perpetuate itself, and you can't do that by having any kind of moral or aesthetic standards.
