"mets president of baseball operations David Stearns holds his end of the season press conference after mets finish collapse with shutout loss in miami."
"David Stearns calls mets season tremendously disappointing"
Stearns and Mendoza both need to go. Until recently, I liked Mendoza a great deal, but he mismanaged the pitching rotation. He always said he needed "length" from his starters, yet he would yank guys after four or five innings, even when they had plenty in the tank.
Carlos Mendoza developed a circle of chokers. Whoever is in charge in 2026 has to get rid of Montas (whom they should never have signed--just look at his career record), Manaea, Senga, Helsley, Stanek and Soto (the pitcher).
And unless they pay Pete Alonzo at least $50 mil per, for at least five years, they're going to lose him. They've been cheating him for the last few years, while paying crazy money to Lindor, and now, Soto, as well. Without Pete, the mets would have had a losing season in 2025. He's our best player (the only guy who hit with RISP all season long), but he had the misfortune of being born White.
Stearns needed to resign, or, ideally, shoot himself.

How much money is too much? How much isn't? If a team is going to spend 340 million dollars on 25 supposedly good players and they don't win, then there a few reasons: the scouts are wrong, the gm is wrong, the manager is lousy or the owner has no clue about how to hire any of the above.
I don't believe the financials of ANY of these sports teams, just as I don't believe the profit reports of companies(especially tech)on the NYSE. Stadiums are barely half full, ratings aren't great, yet top salaries are rapidly approaching $100 million A YEAR.
Bullsh*t.

Alonso to the Yankees would not surprise me.

He may end up in the bronx. The yankees are interested, and Pete could keep his family here. It would mean the mets losing their greatest run producer of all time.
