"great moments in advice column headlines"

From today's San Jose mercury news oct. 11, 2025

This sounds like one of James Thurber's fictional q-&-a pieces from "The Pet Department." (Does anyone read James Thurber anymore?)

N.S.: We used to. When I was a kid, we owned a large paperback copy of The Thurber Carnival. And when I was even younger, we watched the Thurber show, My World, and Welcome to It, starring the ubiquitous William Windom (The Farmer's Daughter), which unfortunately only lasted one season.

Dear Vigilant:Is the woman White or black? To alligators, dark meat is a delicacy. Why deprive them of one of the few pleasures they have in life? I doubt a White person would wade into water known to have alligators,so I would stay out of it. Please write back when the situation is resolved.

DEAR ABBY: My husband and I have been married 56 years. For the past year or so, we quarrel about everything — major issues and minor, insignificant things. What should we do?
