Spanky: "Blue sky"

But 7:00 p.m. Saturday "night" this weekend was daytime, over an hour before sunset, way out there on the western edge of the time zone.

Take it away, Spanky:

Blue sky, sunshine,
What a day to take a walk in the park!
Ice cream, daydreams,
'Til the sky becomes a blanket of stars!

Condolences. Looks like you imported more than just a chief from the chicago pd: chicago followed him there, and he'll leave it behind when he climbs the ladder to a bigger department. At least he kind of looks sort of law enforcement-ish, unlike that commissioner Jessica Tisch in nyc.

Yeah, I know it's coming here. The cops next door in chocolate city are doing their best to keep a lid on things. A shooting here, a shooting there, not every week. But you just know that in a decade, plus or minus, it probably goes boom.

Good song--among many that year.

One of the first 45s I bought as a young tyke was "Sunday Will Never Be The Same",followed by "Like to Get to Know You" and Spanky's follow up,"Lazy Day". Also "Light My Fire","Up,Up and Away","Love is Blue","The Horse","Classical Gas"..A lot of instrumentals back in those years. And now the only thing I see played on tv,is rap or techno crappo. Yawn.

Yeah! Oldies shows on wabcradio.com out of New York, every Saturday night, 5pm - 10pm eastern time.

Quick story from the 1980s... an old woman applied for the vacant church organist position and was hired without audition. She had another church listed on her resume and that was good enough for the search committee.

She was horrible! Couldn't play the organ at all. Off-speed, wrong notes, missed measures, every possible error all the time. She didn't last very long but the legend continued for years after. "I can name that hymn in four verses". "I can name that hymn in three verses." "Name that hymn!"

Minister was culturally sophisticated, expert in music. He was horrified. He summed up the situation as "Sunday Will Never Be the Same".

I think,if there was one year I'd like to go back to and listen to my local radio station(WLAV-AM 1340 at the time)all afternoon would be the summer of 1969. Some great songs that year, but they also generously played music from the previous 5 years. That was some year to have a Realtone AM-FM-police-weather radio--which I bought at a hardware store down the street for about
$12.00. I wore that radio out,lol.
