“(19 news/instagram) cleveland, ohio — a gunman killed two family members thursday night and then shot two east cleveland police officers in a crime spree that ended when the suspect lunged at a federal marshal, authorities say.
“ivestigators arrested [negro] Aaron Sharp, 23, of east cleveland about 8:30 a.m. friday on euclid avenue, near Shaw high school. he is expected to be charged with aggravated murder and felonious assault on a police officer.
“the officers were taken to university hospitals cleveland medical center, where they were listed in stable condition. authorities would not release the identities of the victims, pending the notification of family members.
“'this is a stark reminder of the dangers our officers face every day,” said Reginald Holcomb, the city’s police chief.
“east cleveland mayor Lateek Shabazz said the incident began shortly before 11 p.m. thursday with a call about a domestic dispute at a home on north Taylor road.
“the dispute escalated, and Sharp shot his two family members, authorities said. as patrolman Joshua Durda responded, Sharp fired at the officer, striking him in the leg, police said.
“Sharp then bolted, according to police. an hour later, police spotted him near the townhouse motel on Euclid avenue, where he shot officer Brandon Hernandez in the lower back, investigators said.
“Sharp then fled, according to authorities. more than eight hours later, authorities, with the help of a drone and neighbors’ tips, tracked him to a home near Shaw High School. That’s where Sharp had been hiding.
“U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott confirmed that Sharp ran at a deputy marshal, who used a stun gun to arrest him. forty federal officers, along with investigators from surrounding departments and sheriff’s deputies, joined in the search."
GRA: 19 news said, all this happened on Sharp's birthday, his 24th--and the last one that he'll breathe non-prison air (I hope).

(Fox)PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police have announced an arrest and revealed new details in their investigation into a mass shooting that claimed the lives of three people and left nine others injured back on July 7 in Grays Ferry.
Police say 13 different guns were fired at the scene that night in a case of ‘contagious gunfire’ that resulted in those guns being fired recklessly and indiscriminately.
What we(think we) know:
Police held a press conference Thursday morning to announce the arrest of Terrell Frazier, 22, in the deadly July 7 mass shooting that occurred on the 1500 block of South Etting Street.
Frazier, who was arrested in West Philadelphia, will be charged with three counts of murder and related offenses.

Police believe Frazier was one of the people seen in the doorbell camera footage of the incident firing from the far side of the street.
Investigators say they are still working to identify and locate a number of suspects after they say a total of 13 guns were fired at the scene that night. More than 140 pieces of ballistic evidence were recovered at the scene.
Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore says police now believe the shooting was a case of ‘contagious gunfire’ and stemmed from one person discharging a firearm at random - perhaps firing into the sky. He says police have ‘no idea’ what the suspects firing the 12 other guns were firing at, and that they did not appear to be firing at anyone or anything in particular.
"There was no opposing party. They’re shooting among themselves really recklessly and carelessly, and it caused all this damage in this case," Vanore said. "It’s something we’re working towards getting to the bottom of."

Mayor Lateek Shabazz. "The City of East Cleveland officially has a new mayor. In a split decision The Ohio Court of Appeals ruled that City Council President Lateek Shabazz will take over the office formerly held by Brandon King, who was convicted of committing crimes in office.
All of which was disputed by Interim Mayor Sandra Morgan, who is running in the November election. She's pretty much what you'd expect, too. And more. "a background in education and community organizing. She is also the granddaughter of Cleveland inventor, Garrett Morgan." Yes, that Garrett Morgan! The inventor of the Traffic Light!

Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore is "mystified"? Look to a "fine" example of law enforcement, Suffolk County (i.e., Boston) Sheriff (i.e., chief jailer) Steven Tompkins:
* a $2,500 fine in 2015 for asking store owners to remove campaign signs for an election opponent.
* Back in March 2023, Tompkins paid a $12,300 fine for creating a state job for his niece and having employees run his errands.
* And now, charged by the FEDS with extortion for his alleged dealings with a Boston-based cannabis company. He invested $50,000. Then by May of 2022, the value of the stock had dropped so much Tompkins's investment "was worth several thousand dollars less than the $50,000 he originally invested,"... "Tompkins allegedly demanded a refund of $50,000 and, despite the decrease in the value of Tompkins's investment, Individual A agreed to Tompkins's demands for full repayment of $50,000," the office said.
Tompkins allegedly needed the money to pay for "campaign and personal expenses." He got the money back in five separate checks from May 2022 to July 2023 "that read 'loan repayment' and '[company] expense' to disguise the nature of some of the payments," prosecutors said.
He's now charged with two counts of extortion under color of official right.
