1983 - A woman was gang-raped on a pool table at Big Dan's Tavern in Fall River, Mass. Victim and rapists all with Portuguese names, probably descendants of recent immigrants. Big influx into southeastern Mass.
1985 - Eric Clapton had a hit song. At first I misheard it as "Won't you be my Fall River woman / I want to be your Fall River man". That's outrageous! How could they let that on the radio?
Actual lyrics: "Won't you be my forever woman / I'll try to be your forever man"

Today? They'd go with the Fall River version, add some m***f***'s and crude innuendo, make it anti-melodic as per RM's recent observations on drums, bass, and production "values", and it would be a chart-topper.
Easy mistake to make. I'm STILL learning the actual lyrics to songs I thought I knew. Sometimes,I like MY lyrics better.
