Let’s take a stroll around the sort of ‘hood that has constant murders

A stroll around the 'hood: Assuming that link brings you to the northeast corner of a green-shaded block with Denby high school, on duchess, then 1/10 mile north the cross street is Morang (and I’m looking at the map on a big monitor). The businesses along Morang, from west to east: mama’s african hair braiding, family dollar, prowash coin laundry, classic’s barber shop, and motown tattoo company.

Zoom in and we see liquor captain, Morang auto sales (only four vehicles showing in the satellite view), smokehaus 313, Oshea the barber, e-z 49 minute cleaners, moneygram (at Mr. S. party stop), Morang coin operated auto wash—and here’s one! Butler funeral home – grace food market, east detroit custom.

A commercial wonderland just off i-94, but Mabel, I think we’ll stay on the highway and take the rest stop on the canadian side.

Very little "car washing" going on at the car wash--lots of drug deals though. Same in the grand rapids ghetto

Huh! How about that! You mean this car wash shooting wasn't about who was next in line to use the one and only functioning free vacuum?

One phobia at a time. Dreading tomorrow's visit to the Third World Laundromat where half the machines are always Out Of Order.

Today's Third World Laundromat wrap-up. A slow day before the holiday. New handwritten signs en español y inglés también about how the door automatically locks at night and reopens at 6am. And No Baño Publico. Obese older black lady put a $20 in the change machine (always a gamble) and got $20 in quarters back but she needed help picking up a few that dropped on the floor. Short little centroaméricano dude had some español thing playing loud on his phone but it was talk, not music, so semi-endurable. Zero panhandlers today, so we'll count it a success and do it again some day as far in the future as possible. Got a cheapo coffee at the store down the street at a fraction of the starbucks price but they didn't write anything on the cup, not even a lame joke about ill-eagles. Cream dispenser was empty but what else is new. Used car lot has a 2007 white chebby truck out front, that won't last long. And assorted cars, mostly teenaged. The bank still hasn't replaced its sign that blew off in the hurricane last year.
