The Whole Idea Behind Homeless Advocacy is to Not Solve the Problem
* Perhaps it is a little early for another update here on the "homelessness" situation in San Francisco. (My last update was about six months ago in March 2023.). * But there is a good reason for an update now: At least a few people seem finally to be catching on that the basic idea behind "homelessness" advocacy is to exploit an issue that brings forth great human empathy to generate vast taxpayer funds and then to not solve the problem. The spending continues and increases without limit. * There is way too much money — for advocates — in "homelessness" for the problem ever to get solved, or even to decrease materially.Read on »

Our lesbian governor, Tina Kotek, has decided the solution to homelessness is to simply build more high priced homes:
https://www.oregonlive.com/business/2023/01/kotek-homebuilding-target-is-ambitious-potentially-costly-and-politically-fraught-experts-say.html
Sounds like the trickle down theory of wealth, build lots of expensive homes and somehow that will trickle down to the bottom so junkies, psych jobs, low functioning negroes and hard core criminals will be able to afford them. Of course there will be something about "low income housing" but most homeless are no more capable of supporting cheaper housing than they are of supporting more expensive housing.
Remember Kotek, as a Demoncrat, was the environmental candidate, a big part of her platform was whipping up fear about global warming and how "green" energy was the solution but now she wants to expand the urban growth boundary and fill in city wetland areas with more developments.
Interesting that the Oregonlive article quotes Ernesto Fonseca, the chief executive of housing nonprofit Hacienda CDC as saying this: “Oregon is experiencing an influx of new residents despite some slowdown,”
Really? that's directly contradictory to latest reports that the population of Oregon, and Portland, have dropped significantly for the first time in 30 yrs.

https://www.opb.org/article/2022/12/25/oregon-population-declines-state-budget-tax-revenue-concerns/
So what's true? Are we being lied to about the population contraction? Is this Fonseca just talking from where the sun don't shine for some reason of his own? Is there a conspiracy between our socially progressive governor and the construction/real estate industry to open up more land for development? Are they anticipating a future surge in population growth? Maybe a plan to roll out the welcome mat to mass numbers of alien invaders.
This is the only article I've seen that calls Kotek out on her plan and it's possible environmental impact. Otherwise the media continues to slavishly fawn over Kotek's "visionary" plan:

I've heard the same thing in public interviews with homeless, it's something they'll admmit in spontaneous interviews but might say something different in a more politically charged talk. Reality is that most homeless are either incapable or unwilling to deal with the stresses of holding down a job, paying rent and other bills. In a way I get it because doing those things are challenging but that's how life is, it requires effort, if you don't take care of yourself, somebody else will have to support you. People who can't fit into whatever roles society places on them have always been around and always will be, people aren't perfect and never will be. It's maddening to listen to politicians make grand pronouncements about how they are going to "solve" a problem that can't be solved. What they need to do is focus on managing the problem in a realistic balanced way but they'd rather throw massive amounts of money into unrealistic programs that simply exacerbate the problem.
That's right.Nirvana is not attainable on this planet,no matter what garbage you hear Dems expound about, promising such a condition.
