“Mex” won 11 consecutive gold gloves. as a cardinal, he won the 1979 nl batting crown and shared the league mvp that year with the pirates’ Willie “Pops” Stargell, though it was wrong to force Hernandez to share the award that year. Stargell did not have an mvp season. Hernandez led his cardinals to the 1982 world series championship.
“Mex” was a great clutch hitter, and brought the team to the promised land of its second world series championship in 1986.

I didn't have to look at the highlights to remember how smooth he was at first base.Plus,he was in,possibly the greatest single sit-com episode of all time,"Seinfeld"--the Magic Loogey--which qualified him to appear in my Seinfeld reunion short story, during the faux Mets year of 2020,as a hitting coach peppering Cosmo Kramer with spitballs from the dugout--before getting ejected from the game.
But what's he done since then?Lol.
