Seems SWA cancelled hundreds of flights due to a work action by employees opposed to SWA's looming COVID vax mandate -- then SWA lied about the reason the flights had to be cancelled.

It's noteworthy that Southwest Airlines immediate response was to blatantly lie about the cause of their flight delays and cancellations, as if it never occurred to SWA that people might check for themselves to see whether the weather is as bad as SWA claims.
This makes no sense from a PR perspective. This is just PR 101. In a case like this, SWA should have been putting their own spin on the facts. Why not just come out and say,
'Sorry folks it looks like a lot of our employees are taking some unexpected vacation time and we're going to be way behind schedule, please plan accordingly. This is a small price to pay to ensure that you don't get the chink flu while flying SWA.'
So why the lies? The last thing they'd want to do is tell a big, fat, easily disprovable whopping lie.
I'm not sure what to make of it, but it's worth filing away.
This is what is needed. Ignore the "woke" morons and do what is best. And you know what is best.

Those students had tried to get his teachings restricted but were overruled by University of Chicago president Robert Zimmer, who issued a statement in support of free speech for faculty, Abbot said.
So he had problems at the Univ of Chicago (where he teaches) and MIT, both selective/prestigious schools -- how can 'diversity be our greatest strength' when it results in admission/evaluation on merit to/at the best/most selective schools being controversial?
“We felt that with the current distractions we would not be in a position to hold an effective outreach event,” Professor Robert van der Hilst, head of the MIT department, said in a statement. ... “I made this decision at my discretion, after consulting with faculty and students in the department, and knowing that some might mistake it as an affront on academic freedom — a characterization I do not agree with.”
Pathetic -- it's like when they're thinking up excuses to explain why they caved to the mob they don't care at all about being honest or even making sense -- like a child he just states his action was 'not an affront to academic freedom', and you're supposed to believe him/accept that.

Yes, Matt Amadio's Jeopardy winning streak comes to an end, too bad, he's enjoyably goofy in an lovable kind of way and easy to root for. He lost somewhat ignominiously though, seemed off his game and even though his opponents were both good players there were some categories that seemed tailor made for them. Makes me wonder if there was an attempt behind the scenes to stack things again Matt because he's another dominant White player and Jeopardy is desperately trying to find the great black hope. Not to get too conspiratorial but I can't help but be suspicious sometimes.
Still, the final question spoke more to Matt being off his game more than behind the scenes monkey business, it was a gimme and he missed it. That Austria was broken up after the war was WWII history 101 and while Matt's guess of Poland would have been OK, the Alps was mentioned in the clue which should have tipped him off that it was Austria. How could he have command of so much obscure geographic trivia and not know the Alps aren't anyways near Poland? As soon as I saw the clue, I knew Matt was toast, I was certain everyone would get it and he was in 3rd place.
It seemed almost like he threw the game, which seems inconceivable but who knows, people do strange things sometimes. But I do look forward to seeing him in the tournament of champions, my money is on him winning it all.
If Jeopardy organizes another "greatest of all time" tournament, we'll get to see him square off against Holzhauer, which will be interesting but I couldn't pick one over the other, it's going to be close. I just hope it's not that BS with affirmative action "multi racial, multi gender teams" rather than a straightforward head to head matchup between the best players. But Jeopardy needs to virtue signal because black players have always been underrepresented in Jeopardy (and you know they're trying hard to find good black players) so they'll likely continue to shoehorn them in, even if they don't belong.
This is becoming as in the Middle Ages. Professors at the universities of the time might run afoul of the church and have to flee for their lives. Those persons seeking freedom of thought now thought of as heroes.
