Hear Jimmy Durante Sing, “Make Someone Happy”

Re-posted by Nicholas Stix

“Make Someone Happy” was written for the Broadway musical Do Re Mi, starring Phil Silvers and Nancy Walker, which ran for 400 performances, from December 26, 1960, to January 13, 1962. This song is the show’s main legacy.

Jimmy Durante, aka "The Great Durante," and "The Great Shozzola," had nothing to do with the show.

Music by Jule Styne

Words by Adolph Green and Betty Comden

It’s so important,
To make someone happy,
Make just one someone happy,
Make just one heart the heart you, you sing to.

One smile that cheers you,
One face that lights when it nears you,
One girl you’re, you’re everything to.

Fame, if you win it,
Comes and goes in a minute,
(When it’s gone…)
Where’s the real stuff in life, to cling to?

(There’s only, there is only...)
Love is the answer,
(Someone…)
Someone to love is the answer,
Once you’ve found her,
Build your world around her.

Make someone happy,
Make just one someone happy,
And you will be happy too,
And you will be happy too.

Amazingly, this just blew past Kanye West and Taylor Swift for top song in the country. The nigs are blasting this out of their ghetto cars and shooting each other while playing this in urban jungles everywhere.

April Fools--5 months late.
