Here's more:

(SBNation) Chicago Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic has been hospitalized and is out indefinitely after a fight with teammate Bobby Portis at Tuesday’s practice, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports.

Portis has been suspended for eight games for his role in the incident, the team announced. Mirotic will miss 4-6 weeks with the injury, according to team president John Paxson.

Portis reportedly struck Mirotic in the face with an alleged “cheap shot” following a shoving match during practice. However, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Portis threw a punch after Mirotic charged at him following an escalating conflict.

The players had been talking trash to one another in practice, going back and forth before those exchanges escalated into a physical encounter, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Mirotic charged at Portis twice before Portis threw a punch and connected with Mirotic's face, league sources said. Mirotic dropped to the floor and lay there for several minutes before getting up, league sources said.

Mirotic suffered a fractured bone in his face and sustained a concussion, according to the team. He could need surgery. The two veterans had been vying for minutes in Chicago’s rotation.

My guess is that ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is covering for Portis.

How do you "charge" two times? Is this a bull fight? My money is on the sucker punch.

We've all seen that before.

The double standard for racist black players is an unspoken rule in all sports. I can recall a couple of incidents that illustrate how it works. I remember when Bill Romanowski, a white Denver Broncos player, had a fight with teammate Marcus Williams, Romanowski hit Williams and broke his eye socket, it ended Williams career. There was a lawsuit afterward in which Williams cried like a baby and Romanowski was accused of racism. http://www.espn.com/espnmag/story?id=3736899 It's far more often for black players to assault whites than vice versa but you never see these kind of pitying whining articles favoring whites and condemning violent black racists. Romanowski had his issues, he was kind of a meathead but so are plenty of black players but they don't get characterized the same way as white ones do. I remember when he called Cam Newton "boy", that turned into a firestorm. OK, maybe that's a bit questionable but considering Newton's immature behavior on the field I don't think it's inaccurate, besides black players constantly call whites "boy" but the media never picks up on it. I remember when white NBA players Wally Szcerbiak reported being called boy by a black player (I can't recall his name), it got a brief mention in a couple of articles but the media never picked up the story. We all know what happens if a white player uses "boy" in regards to black players though.

I don't know if a white player has ever filed a lawsuit against a black player for being assaulted, I don't think it's ever happened, even the Rudy Tomjanovich didn't sue Kermit Washington, he filed suit against the team. http://www.nytimes.com/1981/04/21/sports/tomjanovich-and-lakers-reach-agreement-on-suit.html
I guess the message there is that the black man isn't responsible for his violent racism, the team makes him do it (you know: it's society or ultimately whitey's fault).

I also remember when white Dallas Cowboys QB Troy Aikman was recorded on camera yelling at a black lineman, he was accused of racism: http://www.nydailynews.com/archives/sports/teammates-insist-aikman-no-bigot-article-1.722034
Of course since 80-90% of the players on the team are black, if he's yelling at someone odds are they will be black. A fact that seems to escape the accusers. If a black man yells at a white player he is dipslaying leadership, a white player is a racist. That's how the bizarro world of reverse racism works folks.

Blacks in the workplace=violence in the workplace. Hmmm, haven't we seen this formula before? Seems like a regular thing.

Echoes of Rudy T and Kermit Washington. No matter what preceded the punch, the PUNCH was thrown by Portis. If there's an argument and someone gets shot, the crime that occurred was tbe shooting, not the argument.Portis should be in jail--charged with battery and attempt to cause great bodily harm--not welcomed back to the team. This was a felony.

Here's the link to the presser.
Major points:Portis says he "tried texting Mirotic, but he hasn't answered."
GRA:What a surprise (talk to his lawyer).
Speaking of that,a question was brought up about legal action.
"I'm not concerned about that right now."
GRA:Are they ever? No,otherwise, this stuff wouldn't repeatedly keep happening.
