I just heard earlier today (Saturday) from a reader, who wrote,

Here is a story for you that just came out Friday. . . Asian college students targeted for robberies in street crime near IIT campus. The article is about Asian Illinois Institute of Technology students being robbed by perps described as “teens” or “young men.” A police Sgt referred to the robbers as local ‘kids’ from Dunbar Vocational Career Academy, whose school day ends just minutes before the robberies begin. So here on one hand, we have diligent smart Asian students being targeted by the undertow who attends a taxpayer-funded vocational school. No sooner do they get out of school, they prey on the nerds. Asians are described as “fully loaded,” in other words, they have all the latest gadgets. They would not consider this a hate crime, but one of opportunity. I thank my reader for the article.

Well, at least the reporter, Susan S. Stevens, does identify the vics as Asian, and says the perps “robbed” them of their cell phones, instead of the usual MSM euphemism, “stolen.” Obviously, the black perps are targeting them based solely on their race, which makes the offenses racially-motivated hate crimes, if the relevant statutes mean what they say. But of course, they don’t.

According to Great Schools, Dunbar Vocational Career Academy High School is 98% black, 0% white, 0% Asian and 1% Hispanic; 95% of students get “free” lunches at white net taxpayers’ expense. There was no explanation as to why 5% of Dunbar’s students don’t get lunch on whitey’s dime.

In the room, we have one white Uncle Tom cop, and the GAP meeting is being led by a black supremacist in the uniform of the murderous Nation of Islam. That doesn’t bode well for the Asian students.
 

Asian college students targeted for robberies in street crime near IIT campus

College students from Asia, walking alone near the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) after class, have become prime targets for strong-arm robbers in the Gap neighborhood, police and community residents said.

Repeated robberies occurred in the waning months of 2014, with most victims robbed of their cell phones, and police are urging students to be more alert. From Nov. 22 through Dec. 5 alone, seven holdups occurred between 31st and 60th Streets, in the area from 100 to 400 east. Chicago Police Department community alerts have reported victims described their attackers as teens or young men. A recent community alert described a robbery Jan. 5 in the 3200 block of Rhodes Avenue.

“The easiest way to prevent robberies? Do not make yourselves victims,” Sgt. Michael Cooney of the 2nd police district C.A.P.S. office said at a community meeting. Cooney said students walking alone should take to the middle of the street and be aware of the people around them—not focus on cellphone conversations.

Other tips: report suspicious activity immediately by calling 911, remain calm if confronted by an assailant, remember any unique physical characteristics, never pursue a fleeing assailant, ask for contact information from a witness, and remain at the scene of the crime when possible while waiting for a response from a 911 call.

“These guys are opportunists,” said Cooney. They mostly target students from IIT and the nearby Illinois College of Optometry. He acknowledged the robbers are “local kids.” Members of the Gap Community Organization said the perpetrators primarily are students at Dunbar Vocational Career Academy, whose school day ends just minutes before the robberies typically begin.

No arrests were reported, C.A.P.S. officer Renee Sanders said. Dunbar and other Chicago Public Schools (CPS) officials have not responded to accusations against their students. A new principal, Gerald Morrow, took over at Dunbar the last week in December.

The Gap group is urging police, school, and other public officials to combine and increase efforts to stop the crimes. At the first of two meetings on Dec. 22, Leonard McGee, president of the Gap group who also is active in CAPS, noted one difficulty in stopping the crimes is that the hold-ups and Dunbar High School involve multiple wards, police districts, and police beats.

“We care about the issues across the boundaries.”

City Council member Pat Dowell (3rd) attended both community meetings and said she would try to remedy the boundary breakdown. The Gap group also reached out to two other aldermen, Robert Fioretti (2nd) and William Burns (4th), and to CPS officials, all of whom did not attend either meeting.

“It was the most disappointing freaking meeting ever,” said Gap member Ken Calvin after the second meeting held Jan. 5. “We were really looking for input and resolution from CPS executives.”

The robberies will be the chief topics at upcoming C.A.P.S. beat meetings at 6:30 p.m. Mon. Feb. 9 at the Illinois College of Optometry, 3240 S. Indiana Ave., and at 7 p.m. Wed. Feb. 18 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 E. 26th St., Calvin said.
