And to think I was raised in Prince George's County.

But changing demographics killed the county.

Usually condos are safer than apartments. They are owner occupied and usually have security or a door man. I recall years ago a young attractive woman had just moved to her new place and she needed keys made. She went to the local hardware store and chatted with the friendly black worker making the keys.He also made a pair of her keys for himself. Later that night he broke into her place and murdered her.

The locksmith murder case is from an old 80s Chicago Tribune article. called A question of trust every one though they knew the locksmith guy but did they? The story goes that the owner of a hardware store befriended a young black kid and taught him the hardware store trade. He worked there for years. He was trusted. Little did they know that meanwhile he made additional keys and later burglarized apartments. A young attractive woman who had her keys made came home to find him in her apartment. He stabbed her to death. Later during the locksmiths trail the jury was put into a hotel. The case gets stranger because the jury became robbery victims at the hotel. This case reminds me of an old Alfred Hitchcock episode. I think the Boston strangler was also a locksmith. N.S. please post this story for the unaware and trusting souls who befriend and trust the keys to their homes to a stranger, who later robs and murders.
