The protesters I've seen in this city have been loud and very mobile, traveling all over with their loudspeakers. This gives the impression that they are much larger in number than they really are. Television news has given them an inordinate amount of coverage with tv anchors actually walking alongside the marches with live shots, again magnifying their appearance. From the aerial shots and other pictures one could, if they looked closely, see that at it's height there were perhaps two hundred people marching. Other marches had less, eighty to a hundred, which I've witnessed. Over half appeared to be white and most seemed to be experienced protesters, people who seemed to know how to work a demonstration. For the latest Nike shoe or iPhone release there's larger numbers of people queuing up; a lot camp out overnight. Yet they keep trying to give the appearance that this artificially induced movement is a spontaneous groundswell. The question is why. What's the benefit?
