Apparently, the perps were black, although they were very light-skinned, because Freep operative Katrease Stafford gave every irrelevant detail imaginable about what they were wearing, but refused to give the part about their race. That's a dead giveaway, one of those dogs that didn't bark. She’d doubtless emphasize that they had kerchiefs covering their faces, but the police would have asked the vics what race the perps were, and there was more than enough skin showing above the kerchiefs, plus their voices, to determine their respective races.
“Give me all your stuff.” Stafford surely doctored this quote. I’ve never heard of armed robbers who talk like that. They would have said, “Give me all your shit,” which is apparently the universal multicultural armed robber command in America.
In January 1992, a little Hispanic robber with a taller partner (Mutt and Jeff) tried to take me on a frigid, windy subway platform in Brooklyn. “Gimme your shit,” said the little guy, as he reached into his jacket for his weapon.
I never saw what his weapon was, because I threw my newspaper in the air, screamed, “Hel-l-lp!,” and flew down the stairs.
There are reporting conventions for recounting curses, without cursing. One either gives the substitute word in brackets “[stuff],” or “bleeps” it: “Give me all your [bleep].” Stafford and her editor deceived their readers.
Should someone counter, “Well, maybe the robber really said, ‘stuff,’ I say: Not in this world, not in this day and age.

Police are searching for two men in the armed robbery of more than a dozen women at a nail salon in southwest Detroit last Friday.
At least 14 people, including two children, were in the Favis Nail Salon in the 1800 block of Springwells at the time of the robbery around 4:45 p.m. Jan. 9. Detroit police released two videos of the robbery Tuesday evening.
The videos show the two men, dressed in black, entering with hoods and masks. According to police, one of the suspects fired a shot into the ground and told the women, "give me all your stuff." One woman rushes to close the blinds as the men begin to quickly gather the patrons' belongings in a book bag. They later have the same woman collect more of the women's possessions.
Both men were armed.
Around the 2:14 mark of the video, another woman enters the salon and one of the suspects can be seen searching through her purse for items to steal. The robbery lasted just over four minutes.

The first suspect was described as 6 feet and 185 pounds. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt, scarf over his face, black cargo pants, black shoes, black gloves and was armed with a handgun.
The second suspect was described as 5'9, 185 pounds. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, dark scarf, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, dark shoes, black gloves, and a red backpack and was also armed with a handgun.

Why a nail salon? Unless one or more of the women belonged to a dope dealer, there wouldn't have been any money or valuables. This is an unusual crime as generally the negroes avoid robbing negresses and especially the old black church lady type.
Love your hilarious subway crime story. My heroes are Bernard Goetz and Zimmerman. Many of us city dwellers have crime tales to swap.
There have been more robberies in hair salons. Hair weaves, hair extensions and wigs are expensive. Many black women wear hair extensions. The costly extensions, made of human hair from Indian women can run in the thousands. Korean merchants often sell hair extensions and have to deal with theft. Its like you can't make this stuff up. I would like to see this in cartoon form.

The woman rushed to close the shade must be part of the robbers.
