Mark O’Mara, in responding to some questions during his post-verdict press conference:
“This verdict still has nothing to do with civil rights. We need to talk about civil rights, but not in the context of this case….
“I believe the jury was confused by a confusing jury instruction” on manslaughter.
“He [Zimmerman] was like a patient on an operating table with a mad scientist.
“But you guys (the media) had a lot to do with it. You took a story that was fed to you, and you ran with it.
“And then he [Zimmerman] was … [in the hands of] a prosecution that could never prove its case. This ‘in your heart’ stuff…”
