The Countenance blogmeister left some snark droppings here yesterday. If he knew anything about baseball economics, as explained by Nobel laureate socialists like Mike Lupica, he’d know that only big market teams like the Mets, Cubs, and Dodgers can compete, which is why the Cardinals, Reds, and Bucs are having such horrible seasons, and why the Twins and Royals have never had any success during the lives of their respective franchises. As the laureates teach, the only way small-market franchises can compete is through socialism!

I'm a St. Louisan. I don't need baseball explained to me. I was born knowing it :)
Funny, I always thought that having effective GMs and talent scouts and having a minor league system full of quality pitching had a lot to do with it.
Cards payroll this year is 116m/11th. We can spend money when we want to, but we just can't spend 200m.
Hmm, I saw the schedule for the middle of this week.
What I saw is that you people in Queens and Flushing Meadows will see some quality baseball on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
