TCM shows Confidential Agent(1945) based on a Graham Greene novel with Charles Boyer, Lauren Bacall, Victor Francen, Wanda Hendrix, Peter Lorre and Katina Paxinou at 3:45 p.m. ET Friday afternoon.
Film Noir Guide: “A Spanish patriot (Boyer) travels secretly to England to purchase coal for the Loyalist cause in Spain, but his every move is thwarted by his Fascist nemesis (Francen). Fortunately for Boyer, he meets up with the coal mining company owner’s daughter (Bacall); she falls hard for him and helps him elude police, who wrongly suspect he’s a murderer. Hendrix is the 14-year old girl whose crush on Boyer leads to tragedy, and Lorre and Paxinou are the Spanish quislings who are interested more in gold than coal. Bacall, who made no attempt to disguise her American accent, isn’t believable as the aristocratic English girl who falls for the Spaniard. Boyer gives an enjoyable low-key performance, but Lorre and Paxinou, both of whom brazenly ham it up, are the top attractions.”

Warner Brothers held back The Big Sleep, and shot new scenes for it to make Bacall look good, because they feared bad reviews for her poor portrayal of an English upper-class girl could destroy her career.
Boyer seems more like the Frenchman he was than the Spaniard he plays, but is very good.

I have a secret plan to destroy America. If you believe, as many do, that America is too smug, too white bread, too self-satisfied, too rich, lets destroy America. It is not that hard to do. History shows that nations are more fragile than their citizens think. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and they all fall, and that "An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide." Here is my plan
I. We must first make America a bilingual- bicultural country. History shows, in my opinion, that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. One scholar, Seymour Martin Lipset, put it this way The histories of bilingual and bicultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy. Canada, Belgium, “We can make the U.S. a �Hispanic Quebec’ without much effort.” Malaysia, Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with its Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans.
II. I would then invent "multiculturalism" and encourage immigrants to maintain their own culture. I would make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal that there are no cultural differences that are important. I would declare it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rate is only due to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out-of-bounds.
III. We can make the United States a "Hispanic Quebec" without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently "...the apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony." Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentrically, and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together. I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with a salad bowl metaphor. It is important to insure that we have various cultural sub-groups living in America reinforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities.
IV. Having done all this, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50 percent drop out rate from school.
V. I would then get the big foundations and big business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of Victimology. I would get all minorities to think their lack of success was all the fault of the majority I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority population.
VI. I would establish dual citizenship and promote divided loyalties. I would "celebrate diversity." "Diversity" is a wonderfully seductive word. It stresses differences rather than commonalities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse," peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together, and we can take advantage of this myopia. Look at the ancient Greeks. Dorf's World History tells us "The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshiped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games in honor of Zeus and all Greeks venerated the shrine of Apollo at Delphi. A common enemy Persia threatened their liberty. Yet, all of these bonds together were not strong enough to overcome two factors..." (local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions...). If we can put the emphasis on the "Pluribus," instead of the "Unum," we can balkanize America as surely as Kosovo.
VII. Then I would place all these subjects off limits make it taboo to talk about. I would find a word similar to "heretic" in the 16th century a word that stops discussion and paralyzes thinking a word like "racist" or "xenophobe" that halts argument and conversation. Having made America a bilingual-bicultural country, having established multiculturalism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of "victimology," I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra "that because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good." I would make every individual immigrant sympatric and ignore the cumulative impact.
VIII. Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book, Mexifornia. This book is dangerous it exposes my plan to destroy America. So please, please if you feel that America deserves to be destroyed please, please, don't buy this book! This guy is on to my plan.

“In every age,” writes Bronowski in The Ascent of Man (1973), “there is a turning point, a new way of seeing and asserting the coherence of the world.” Similarly, Abraham Lincoln (1862) said, “As our case is new, we must think and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves….”
It seems clear that the great forward leaps of human progress have been made by people who “disenthrall” themselves and develop “a new way of seeing and asserting the coherence of the world.” We see this in Galileo and Copernicus, who had the audacity to claim the Earth was not the center of the universe. We see this in Charles Darwin, who took on the religious establishment with the heretical idea that man was a product of evolution. We see it in political systems where Locke and Jefferson had the revolutionary ideas that humankind could govern themselves. We see it in Freud with his upsetting idea that man was not always a rational animal. All of these people challenged the current ordained wisdom of the time, and all of them proved correct.
These people were labeled heretics. Their ideas aired amidst great controversy. Huxley once observed that, “All great truths begin as heresy.” Humankind falls into a routine way of viewing the world and then, breaking the continuity, someone observes that the current orthodoxy is at variance with reality. A great debate ensues. New ideas are upsetting. Attempts are made to shout down new opinion. If the idea is grounded in reality, the heretical idea eventually prevails and becomes accepted wisdom. One generation’s heresy is frequently the next generation’s orthodoxy, which thus sets the stage for the next new heresy. New ideas replace old ideas, but often only after a struggle. This is as it should be. The poet of old observed: “New occasions teach new duties. Time makes ancient good uncouth” (Lowell, 1844).
The great Earth-shaking controversies of our history, between science and religion, between church and state, between Christianity and modern culture and, recently, within science itself, all have been characterized by a heretic or heretics who challenge the straightjacket of orthodoxy.
New ideas come hard in public policy. Public policy is reactive, and new problems are addressed as long as possible with old solutions. It has a hard time adjusting itself to new ideas. As Barbara Tuchman observed:
Policy is formed by perceptions and by long implanted biases. When information is relayed to policy makers, they respond in terms of what is already inside their heads and consequently make policy less to fit the facts then to fit the baggage that has accumulated since childhood (1981, p. 289).
In the same spirit John Stuart Mill wrote:
When society requires to be rebuilt, there is no use in attempting to rebuild on the old plan…. no great improvements in the lot of mankind are possible, until a great change takes place in the fundamental constitution of their modes of thought (cited in Commager, 1982, p. 13).
II
Who are the modern prophets whose heresies will turn into tomorrow’s truths? We know they are there, but we differ strenuously on who they are Some would say Mother Teresa and others Paul Ehrlich. Every person would have his or her own list. “We see the world not as it is, but as we are” goes an old aphorism. We choose our prophets because they lead us where we already think we are going. Like beauty, contemporary prophets are mainly in the eye of the beholder. It is only the future that vindicates our choices. Current assessment of new ideas is so notoriously flawed that we all tell each other that “prophets are without honor in their own country.”
I have been convinced for over twenty years that Garrett Hardin is one of the prophets of our time. He has had the courage, intellect, and audacity to take on many of the orthodox assumptions of our age. We will look back from the future and recognize the growing importance of his message.
III
Time and geometry are on Hardin’s side. I suggest there is massive and mounting evidence that we live on the upper slopes of some awesome logarithmic curves. The “new way of seeing and asserting the coherence of the world” in our time is to show that infinite growth cannot take place in a finite world. I choose not to repeat all the depressing statistics. Let me instead use a metaphor. John McPhee has written:
Compare the six days of Genesis as a figure of speech for what has in fact been four billion years geologic time. On this scale, a day equals something like 666 million years and thus:
All day Monday until Tuesday noon, and the beautiful organic wholeness of it developed over the next four days. At 4:00 pm Saturday, the big reptiles came. Five hours later, when the redwoods appeared, there were no more big reptiles. At three minutes before midnight Christ arrived. At one-fortieth of a second before midnight, the Industrial Revolution began.
We are surrounded by people who think that what we have been doing for one-fortieth of a second can go on indefinitely. They are considered normal, but they are stark raving mad (McPhee, 1971, p. 79).
I believe when the history of these times is written it will show that our prophets were those confronting the finiteness of our world. Each year our population grows, the deserts creep, pollution seeps and forests shrink, the globe warms, our topsoil erodes; habitats degrade and more and more species disappear. We are in the hinge of history, where ethnocentrically we thought the Earth belonged to us, but ecologically we are finding out, to our great astonishment, that we belong to the Earth. We are finding that human genius can push the limits of nature, but that, ultimately, man cannot conquer nature but is subject to its timeless, inexorable laws.
Despite the massive and growing evidence that we are causing unprecedented harm to our ecosystem, a vast number of people choose to ignore it. No one today can “prove” global warming will inevitably act in a harmful way, and there will always be an optimist somewhere who will relate that the event will ultimately be good for humankind. There are always Simple Simons telling us against all evidence that a negative is actually a positive. It is this type of conflict that too often paralyzes public policy. We cannot know for sure, so we do nothing. Ken Boulding (1984) has observed that the essential human dilemma is that all of our experience is in the past and yet all our decisions relate to the future. That makes dramatic change hard to accomplish. In absence of proof of the negative, we are forever hopeful:
Our images of the future themselves are affected by our evaluations of them. We tend to put too high a probability on those that we dislike (Boulding, 1984).
IV
I know and am sobered by the fact that there has been a myriad of Cassandras predicting doom that has not taken place. We know from the thoughtful study of history that most utopians and most doomsayers have been wrong. Will and Ariel Durant (1968), after a lifetime of studying history, observed that 99 out of every 100 new ideas that come at a society are bad ideas. It has been very stabilizing to societies and nations to give a heavy burden of proof to those arguing for dramatic change. History shows, as a group, they are usually wrong. Most prophets, alas, have been false prophets.

That said, I suggest the next major revolution in human thought will be where humankind confronts the finite. It will be the revolution in science, public policy, and human consciousness. It will assert that infinite growth cannot take place in a finite world: that our atavistic thoughts on population and the way our economy is currently structured will be found obsolete and dangerous to the survival of humans on Earth. It will bring about a new way of seeing and asserting the coherence of the world.
One anthropologist commenting on the worldwide crisis that humanity confronts said:
The extreme novelty of humans as the dominant force on this planet is as surprising as is our current rate of destruction of our own habitat and that of the Earth’s other life forms. This disregard is all the more striking since, in geological terms, our species has only recently departed from its “place in nature.” The full implications of our derivation by the random processes of biological evolution in a mere 5 million to 7 million years from an animal much like a chimpanzee have yet to be incorporated in any manner into the fundamental beliefs or institutions of our own, or in fact, any society. In its very success, our species has raised grave problems that demand new kinds of solutions. Will we, by better understanding the processes that made us what we are, grow in capacity to solve the frightening problems of the future arising from our very selves? (Potter, 1989)

This revolution in thought will be more contentious than any that has gone before. There is in the western world a deep-seated cultural belief in abundance, and that a world of plenty is the natural state of affairs. The developed world enjoys its lifestyles and the underdeveloped world seeks to emulate these lifestyles. But increasingly we are finding that resources are not unlimited; topsoil is too often ephemeral. We are schizophrenic about our technologies — we marvel at them but we realize that they are not always benign and often comes close to being a Faustian bargain. We are finding that economic growth increasingly has byproducts, which may cause more harm than the good incorporated by the product.

These concerns will be a new chapter in “seeing and asserting the coherence of the world.” Where past genius was recognized for pushing back these limits, future genius will be recognized on how to adapt to the very rapidly approaching limits inherent in living in a limited ecosphere. More accurately, we must both push back these limits and learn to live within the clear overall limits.
When I was 19 a wise person told me, “maturity is a recognition of one’s limitations.” It was hard for me to accept — I had a typical 19-year-old desire to read every book, travel to every country, hold every job, live every experience. But, truth won out and maturity was a recognition of my limitations.
So also, I suggest, with the world. We know that no trees grow to the sky; that no species of animal can grow without restraint; and that the harbingers of ecological destruction warn daily of a new set of limits.

Al Bartlett writes:
If an enormous source of low-cost energy is discovered, it is easy to predict what the immediate consequence would be. Our political and economic leaders would collectively breathe a great sigh of relief and would then discard all notions of energy limits. They would rejoice over the advent of a period of uninhibited growth in global rates of energy consumption.
In order to estimate the consequences of likely rates of growth of global energy consumption, we must remember that essentially all of the energy released by human activity winds up ultimately as heat in the environment. First we need some data. The solar power incident on the Earth can be calculated by multiplying the solar constant (1.35 x 103 W/m2) by the projected area of the Earth (pRe2). This gives 1.7 x 1017 watts, of which 34 percent is reflected back into space, leaving 1.1 x 1017 watts of solar power entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Romer shows that the rate of energy use by humans is 8 x 1012 watts. A simple quotient shows that human activities put into the Earth’s atmosphere about 10-4 of the power the sun puts into the Earth’s atmosphere. The simple arithmetic of growth shows that one would gain a factor of 104 in 14 doubling times would take only about 300 years. The arithmetic would suggest that at this modest growth rate, in 300 years human activities would put about as much thermal power into the Earth’s atmosphere as the sun puts in! The absurdity of this situation is obvious. Independent of the greenhouse effect, global warming from this direct heating would likely render the Earth uninhabitable long before the passage of 14 doubling times (Bartlett, 1989, p. 10).

….Garrett Hardin has been one of the main voices of sanity directing our attention to the new realities in which we live. He has had a profound impact on my thinking and I am honored by his friendship. Time will be kind to Garrett Hardin. The future will look back on him as a prophet. His science and his metaphors help us in so many indispensable ways to understand these new realities within which we must live.
The Navajo have an old saying: “The storytellers rule the world.” For good reason. It is not enough to see and understand the new realities; one must also articulate them in understandable ways.
Gleick, in his book Chaos, states, “The world awaits the right metaphor” (1987, p. 22). He points out that, no matter how smart we are, we often cannot see something without the correct metaphor. It is thus for his science, his humanity, his heretical ideas, and his ability to show us truth through metaphor that we honor Garrett Hardin. ■

Why, with Diversity, Everything Goes Kaputt

There’s going to be a lot of things in the new ‘America’ that we used to take for granted that just straight up won’t work. Any complex organization that requires a bunch of steps be done in series, correctly, it just won’t work above a certain % of vibrants in the workforce.
Doing something like landing a plane on an aircraft carrier, or doing a surgery, or running a chemical plant, or whatever, require thousands of small steps, each of which by themselves is pretty straightforward, but have to be done correctly for the whole enterprise to succeed. People think that if White people (or Asians) who do these tasks 100% correctly are replaced with browns who do these tasks 97% correctly, hey, no big deal, we’ll just have 3% more failures. Not great, but not catastrophic for civilization.
Wrong! The success rate will be 0.97 * 0.97 * 0.97 * 0.97… out to the 100th power or the 1000th power: so essentially the success rate will be zero. One step stuff like picking a strawberry, sure, maybe you can survive with cheaper, crappier labor. All the other stuff in an advanced nation state? No.
One of the big problems in any organization is that management will look at any one task in a vacuum and see that if they hire semi-competent H1Bs or undocumented scabs or diversity hires they can do it 3% crappier for 20% cheaper, and they think that’s a good trade off. Then all of a sudden their organization can’t execute any longer, but there’s no one clear cause, just mass semi-incompetence, and they wonder what happened.

A Black professor’s attempt to have a civil, mature conversation about race proved too much to handle for Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who launched into a full-on fit.
Dr. Ricky L. Jones, who pens opinion pieces for Louisville’s the Courier-Journal, stopped by Carlson’s show Monday to discuss his latest op-ed titled, “Was James Baldwin Right When He Called White Americans Moral Monsters?” It wasn’t long before the conversation flew off the rails.
“I’d encourage people to read the piece,” Jones, a professor of pan-African studies at the University of Louisville, said after Tucker accused him of pegging all white folks as moral monsters. “Actually, that was the conclusion of legendary writer James Baldwin after many years in America.”
[GRA: My conclusion is that Jones is a full-blown racist, like his hero, Baldwin.]
“I simply posed the question as to whether or not Baldwin was right when we place some of the behavior along lines of race into historical context,” he explained.
The answer didn’t satisfy Carlson, however, who tried to twist the argument by questioning if it’d be okay to describe Black people as moral monsters without being labeled a racist.
“Do you think one person’s race affects their moral standing?” he interjected before cherry-picking a quote from the piece describing whites as “brutally mean and inhumane.” “Aren’t these your words? Tell me what you meant by it.”
“I’m going to be patient with you. I’m going to be patient with you and let you ask and answer the questions you like to,” Jones replied, growing frustrated but remaining calm. “But we’ll run out of time, television is certainly a short platform. Again, I encourage —”
“You said it five times,” Carlson jumped in again. “Why don’t you answer my question, which is, would it be okay for me to write the sentence, ‘Why are black Americans so brutally mean and insensitive. If you would, please answer the question.”
“I’m answering the question,” Jones said. “The first thing that I would do, what I would not limit myself in a very myopic way to one sentence of a piece. I would endeavor to read the article?”
GRA: The latest liberal/communist strategy is to call people Nazis, fascists, and now “monsters,” either moral or immoral. Ricky Jones agrees with Baldwin 100%, no doubt, though he tried to pass himself off as an objective questioner. But that is just camouflage for the occasion of visiting Carlson. By calling white people, “monsters,” Jones (and others like him) give tacit approval to blacks, to KILL the monstrous whites.
And they do.

Many negroes have a hard time understanding one another. That is why they say to one another all the time: “ya’ know what I’m saying?” Their diction, poor grammar, rapid fire manner of speech and slurring of words makes it hard for ANYONE to understand them.
They also assume that words and phrases they use all the time by themselves are understood by EVERYONE, when they are not.
“Alley apple” in some parts of Philadelphia means a brick fallen into the alley from a decaying, abandoned building. In New York City, that term might not even be understood at all.

Notice that Jones refuses to answer directly any questions posed by Tucker. When he asks: If a white person asked if all black people were “moral monsters, would he be racist?,” it’s a legit question, because yes, as we all know, if a white media figure even implied something like that, in any context, he would be excoriated by the media, fired from his job and whitelisted.
Jones would never directly address the question, no matter how many times Carlson asked. He would attempt to launch into a 400-years-of-oppression diatribe every time, and Tucker understandably would shut him down because it had nothing to do with his point. Basically, Jones wanted to use the interview as a forum to lecture whitey on the history of racism. He, and other black supremacists, think that after they finish lecturing about evil whitey we’ll understand that anything modern black racists do is justified. It all be reparations, you know.

The Story of Emmett Till: Facts vs. Racist Fairy Tales

Contrary to a fox news “thing” published on July 25th, Emmett Till was not “lynched,” and his killers, Roy Bryant and his half-brother, J.W. Milam, did not murder him for “allegedly offending a White woman.” They also did not murder him for “whistling at a White woman,” the most popular and enduring whopper of the Till lies.
Another, more recent Till lie, has been the assertion that the White woman at the center of the case, Mrs. Carolyn Bryant, has since recanted her testimony in the trial of her husband, Roy, and J.W. Milam.
And I do not believe that Till’s face was mutilated by the beating Bryant and Milam dished out to him, as opposed to having been partially eaten by aquatic creatures during the three days in which his corpse lay submerged in the Tallahatchie River.
Till wasn’t “lynched,” because his murder was not pre-meditated, and was not a mob action.
Bryant and Milam had planned on beating Till to a pulp, and then extracting an apology from him for what he’d done to Mrs. Bryant. But Emmett Till was defiant. He refused to apologize.
He was his father’s son. Louis Till had been hanged by the U.S. Army of Occupation in Italy for being a convicted serial rapist and murderer. (Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, a single rape was a capitol crime.)
negro men in our armed forces had gone hogwild, raping and murdering White women and other civilians in Italy and France, such that the vast majority of enlisted men executed for said crimes were black. This punishment deeply offended some White leftists, such as French painter-interpreter Louis Guilloux, and fake historian Alice Kaplan (The Interpreter). Guilloux and Kaplan both insinuated that the racist black monsters should have gotten free rapes and murders.
Note that in 2006-2007, Kaplan, then a professor at Duke, wholeheartedly supported the railroading of three White lacrosse players for the non-existent rape of career criminal and racist rape-hoaxer, Crystal Gail Mangum. Kaplan has no interest in justice. Rather, she feels great loyalty to black criminals, and great enmity to innocent Whites.
In a twisted, 2005 Chicago Tribune op-ed which served only to lay bare Kaplan’s evil hatred of America and Whites, she asserted, “very few people know about the tragedy of Emmett Till’s father, Louis Till.”
In fact, nobody knows of “the tragedy” of Louis Till, because there was no such tragedy, except as regards Louis Till’s victims.
Kaplan’s very lede is a bald-faced lie: “Emmett Till's tragedy is so deeply engraved in our national consciousness that there is scarcely an American alive today who can’t evoke it in all its details...”
Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam kidnapped and beat Emmett Till, because of what they had learned from witnesses, all of them negro.
The witnesses were cousins of Till, and their friends, who had taken him to the Bryants’ store. He had made a point of lagging behind in the store, after the others had left, and putting his hands on Mrs. Bryant.
When Till’s cousin dragged him out of the store, Mrs. Bryant was right behind them, hustling out to her car, where she retrieved her pistol to protect herself against Till.
When Mrs. Bryant left the store, Till reportedly whistled at her, and called her “Baby.” (Mrs. Bryant had thought that the fat Till was a grown man.) If that is true, it had no effect on Mrs. Bryant, who had already decided to fetch her gun, based on what Till had done inside the store. (She would later say that he had put his hands on her and demanded sex from her, in lewd terms.)
The following passage is from the Life magazine article that William Bradford Huie wrote, including the confessions the recently acquitted murderers had given him, for the then-royal sum of $3,150. The scene is in front of the Bryant family convenience store. “Bobo” was Till’s nickname.
[Till had grown up with the White girl in Chicago, but she was not his girlfriend. The only way he could have “had” a White girl or grown woman, as he repeatedly claimed, to negroes and Whites alike even in his last seconds of life, would have been to have raped her, the way his father had.]
“‘You talkin’ mighty big, Bo,” one youth said. “There’s a pretty little white woman in the store. Since you know how to handle white girls, let’s see you go in and get a date with her?”
“You ain’t chicken, are yuh, Bo?” another youth taunted him.
Bobo had to fire or fall back. He entered the store, alone, stopped at the candy case. Carolyn was behind the counter; Bobo in front. He asked for two cents’ worth of bubble gum. She handed it to him. He squeezed her hand and said: “How about a date, baby?”
She jerked away and started for Juanita Milam. At the break between counters, Bobo jumped in front of her, perhaps caught her at the waist, and said: “You needn’t be afraid o’ me, Baby. I been with white girls before.”
At this point, a cousin ran in, grabbed Bobo and began pulling him out of the store. Carolyn now ran, not for Juanita, but out the front, and got the pistol from the Milam car.
Outside, with Bobo being ushered off by his cousins, and with Carolyn getting the gun, Bobo executed the “wolf whistle” which gave the case its name:
THE WOLF-WHISTLE MURDER: A NEGRO “CHILD” OR “BOY” WHISTLED AT HER AND THEY KILLED HIM.
That was the sum of the facts on which most newspaper readers based an opinion.
The Negroes drove away; and Carolyn, shaken, told Juanita. The two women determined to keep the incident from their “Men-folks.” They didn’t tell J. W. Milam when he came to escort them home.
By Thursday afternoon, Carolyn Bryant could see the story was getting around. She spent Thursday night at the Milams, where at 4 a.m. (Friday) Roy got back from Texas. Since he had slept little for five nights, he went to bed at the Milams’ while Carolyn returned to the store.
During Friday afternoon, Roy reached the store, and shortly thereafter a Negro told him what “the talk” was, and told him that the “Chicago boy” was “visitin’ Preacher.” Carolyn then told Roy what had happened.
Once Roy Bryant knew, in his environment, in the opinion of most white people around him, for him to have done nothing would have marked him for a coward and a fool. To this day, propagandists have promoted the racial fairy tale, whereby Emmett Till was “lynched” for whistling at a White woman.
Till’s mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, told what I believe to be two additional lies: 1. That her son could not whistle, and had merely made some sort of sound which those nearby misinterpreted as a whistle; and 2. That she had given him “a talk” about how he was to conduct himself around White Southerners in Mississippi.
Emmett Till had spent a week around his cousins and their friends. They knew he’d whistled at Mrs. Bryant. But it didn’t matter, anyway. Till’s mother was responding to one lie—that her son was murdered for whistling at a White woman—with two of her own. Mrs. Carolyn Bryant had decided to get her gun, before Till whistled at her.
And as for “the talk”: In the late 1990s, black supremacists began asserting that all black parents gave their sons “the talk,” about how to act while in the presence of White policemen, whom the black supremacists asserted were more dangerous to young black males than black street thugs. Never mind that black thugs are over one hundred times more likely to murder young black males than White policemen are. Note that in the period since we began hearing of “the talk,” it has become stereotypical for black males to defy White policemen, and indeed all White authority figures. Thus, it is much more likely that all this rhetoric about “the talk” is just a cover story for black parents telling their sons to defy White authority figures, and I suspect that that is what Emmett Till’s mother really told him.
The recantation that never was. In the 2017 book, The Blood of Emmett Till, Duke University history professor, Timothy Tyson, asserted that in an interview with him ten years earlier, Mrs. Carolyn Bryant Donham had recanted her trial testimony. While Mrs. Donham refused to speak with the media, in 2018 her family denied that she had recanted anything.

“Professor” Tyson donated his tape recordings to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill library archives. The archives reported that Tyson’s tape recordings contained no recantation. He wrote in his notebook that Mrs. Donham had recanted, and asserted that he had not yet turned on his tape recorder when she did, but that story won’t float. If you’re interviewing someone who was involved in the making of history, and that person tells you the most Earth-shattering statement she could possibly make, but you haven’t yet engaged your tape recorder, you turn it on, and ask her to repeat herself.
Note that the only thing Tyson had to sell his book proposal was his claim that he had gotten Mrs. Donham’s recantation. Otherwise, it contained nothing new on the case.
Tyson’s defamation incited murderous, racist hatred nationwide against Mrs. Donham. He could have gotten her killed. The following passage was the lede in a “thing” in the black supremacist newspaper, The Washington Informer:
“The white woman who fabricated accusations of sexual advances that resulted in the gruesome death of black teen Emmett Till in 1955 will likely avoid prison.
“A 2007 confession to author Timothy Tyson made public last month in a Vanity Fair article revealed that now-82-year-old Carolyn Bryant Donham lied about the allegations that likely prompted Till’s death.
“The recent revelation of Donham’s false allegations caused outrage and a petition on change.org has been directed to the NAACP to bring charges against Donham.”
Timothy Tyson is a fraud. And he had priors. Like Alice Kaplan, in 2006-2007, Timothy Tyson had supported the Duke Rape Hoax.
That Emmett Till had put his hands on, and demanded sex from Mrs. Bryant, would have been a mitigating factor in the murder trial, had Till’s killers been convicted. However, that would have been more than offset by the aggravating factors of the killers’ kidnapping and aggravated assault. Thus, Bryant and Milam should have hanged.
Meanwhile, in Emmett Till, the apple did not fall far from the tree. I believe that Emmett would have had a criminal career much like that of his father, replete with the rape and murder of White women.
Thus, while I am convinced that Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam should have hanged for murdering Emmett Till, I feel no compassion for Till, and believe that the murder of Emmett Till surely saved White females from being raped, and probably saved White women’s lives.
(I had planned for a few years on pitching a monograph on Emmett Till to Jared Taylor, not knowing that Jared had resolved to silence me, waste my time, cheat me out of money for my work, and to engage lesser writers to write articles on the same subjects on which I’d written the seminal works of the present era (e.g., the nation of islam’s Zebra Murders—Clark Howard’s book appeared over 40 years ago), so as to bury my superior work. So much for Jared’s commitment to truth or excellence.)

The Wages of American Students' Ninny-Ism [Brief]
Feelings are everything ...
Why should we care how how the Capitol Police or members of Congress felt on January 6th?
Their therapists should care. Their families and friends should care. But I can't figure out why the rest of us should – at least, not in the legal, investigative sense of trying to find out what really happened on January 6th and why.
And yet that was certainly one of the major elements of yesterday's testimony in the Congressional hearings on the matter. Of course, we know that the hearings aren't really to investigate; they are political theater produced and directed by the Democrats, and the reviews are from their friends in the msm. But I'm speaking on behalf of the public, and I even mean the Democrat-voting public: why should we care how they felt? It's irrelevant, although obviously it's a deliberate way to appeal to people's emotions and empathy rather than to their logic and judgment.
A person can be part of an event and have a lot of feelings. It doesn't mean that, in retrospect, those feelings are valid in terms of being an accurate reflection of what was happening that day in the objective sense. But we care less and less and less these days about the objective sense, and when I say "these days" I mean the phenomenon began at least thirty years ago and probably closer to fifty.
I've previously described an incident in my life when I recognized this. It happened in the early 90s, when I had gone back to school and was taking one undergraduate course in addition to my graduate courses. I was twenty years or so older than the other students, and we were discussing an incident at the school in which some female students had been offended by something a professor had said, and accused him of sexual inappropriateness. He had been suspended and the case was awaiting adjudication, but I was stunned to learn that all the people in the class who spoke on the matter believed that the students' perceptions of harassment were all that mattered. No objective standard needed to be applied. It was enough that something he said made them uncomfortable.
His words, however, were not anything that most human beings would find the least bit objectionable. I thought he was being railroaded, and I thought the women who had objected needed professional help to get them to understand that the world didn't revolve around their perceptions and their needs. When I stood up to say my piece in class I didn't say it that harshly, but I pointed out that just because a person has a feeling about an incident doesn't make that feeling objectively true, and that legal matters need to proceed using objective standards that are reasonable.
My words were met with silence and a shrug or two. That was it. Then the class moved on to the next person, who continued in the original vein as though I hadn't even spoken. It was at that point, thirty years ago, that I realized something had gone very very wrong. I hadn't been among college-age students for twenty years, but there had been some sort of vast sea change that I didn't understand at the time.
I think I've come to understand it in more recent years, and we're seeing it bear fruit now in so many ways.
