BROOMFIELD MADE UP A WHOPPER FOR THE COPS, GOT CAUGHT LYING QUICKLY---SAYS HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE CHARGES IN COURT; QUESTION: WHY WOULD A WHITE WOMAN, WITH NORMAL-LOOKING KIDS ASK FOR THIS?
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — When police responded to his tearful 911 call about a shooting Tuesday morning, Charles Broomfield told them that two men had broken in and killed his fiancée and her two sons, according to court documents.
The invaders had spared his life and the life of his 5-year-old son, he told police.
A short time later, after police found inconsistencies in his story, Broomfield confessed to killing his fiancée Jacqueline Neill, 40, and her sons from a previous relationship, Cameron Kilpatrick, 15, and Michael Kilpatrick, 13, according to court documents.

Broomfield, 44, was arraigned Thursday afternoon on three counts of first-degree premeditated murder and three counts of felony firearm.
Appearing in court via video linkup from jail, he listened stoically as the charges against him were read. Asked by the magistrate if he understood the charge of murdering Neill, he said, “No.” The judge asked his attorney to explain the charge to him. She did and again asked if he understood. He replied, “Yes, ma’am.”
Asked if he understood the weapons charges against him, he replied, “Yes, I guess.”
The magistrate asked if Broomfield understood when his attorney explained his rights. He said, “A little bit, here and there.” Asked if he had any questions for the court about those rights, he said, “None that I can think of at the moment.”
