He is correct.
I knew of only one obese person when I was a kid, and that was Gary Binge, my childhood best friend.
And he wasn't so much as obese, just a fat kid.
That was all.
Have a photo on my home fridge showing my late father and late Uncle Buddy, a retired Washington, D.C. cop. The photo was taken at my mom's funeral wake. Neither one of them was overweight, not even a beer gut. And both were probably around 60 years of age. Both children of the Great Depression.

It's really amazing. Looking at old game shows from the 50s through the 70s--maybe the 80s--contestants were all size 4-6. Totally different now--multiply those dress sizes by 3 or 4.

Video games, the internet, cell phones, social media, 100's of TV channels....When I was a kid, all we had was 5 TV channels and reading, but nowadays far more alluring and addicting entertainment captures our kids attention and keeps them glued to chairs and not moving anything except for their fingers. There is a consequence for that inaction.

(Usatoday)The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday that multiple agencies are investigating an E. coli outbreak linked to Quarter Pounder burgers at McDonald's.
The agency said there have been at least 49 people sickened across 10 states, with 10 people requiring hospitalization and one death.

The majority of illnesses have been reported in Colorado and Nebraska, though illnesses have been reported as far west as Oregon and as far east as Wisconsin.
The CDC said that the contaminated ingredient had yet to be identified, but McDonald's said an initial investigation found "a subset of illnesses" were tied to the slivered onions from a supplier that serves three of the fast-food giant's distribution centers.
McDonald's said it has stopped using Quarter Pounder patties and slivered onions in several states.
"We are working in close partnership with our suppliers to replenish supply for the Quarter Pounder in the coming weeks (timing will vary by local market)," reads a statement from Cesar Piña, McDonald's North America Chief Supply Chain Officer, said in the statement.

"In the meantime, all other menu items, including other beef products (including the Cheeseburger, Hamburger, Big Mac, McDouble and the Double Cheeseburger) are unaffected and available," the statement continues.

There's no such thing as coincidence in Washington...
A day after former President Trump ventured into a McDonalds during a campaign stop, cooked some fries, and handed out some food to more-than-happy customers in a photo-op that went very viral (in a good way), the CDC issued a statement announcing an E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounders has left one person dead and caused 10 hospitalizations.
