This reads like something out of The Onion, but Jack Mac apparently means this all very seriously.

Figuring on them selling the watch for maybe $20, and the sunglasses for $5, the $15 would have netted each Intimidator $5.

The real point of this story: Besides being able to display a rogue's gallery of mostly white faces, the UT PD now has seven "white" arrestees, with whom it can partially balance the books, which carry so many black perps.

Eight University of Tennessee students, who referred to themselves as the “intimidation group,” have been charged in a dorm room robbery in North Carrick Hall last week, according to court records.

Roommates Harrison Brown and Austen Burk reported to UT police they received a knock on their door at about 9 p.m. on Feb. 24.

When the students, who were joined by a friend, opened the door for two classmates whom they knew, six others also entered the room, according to police.

Once inside, the visitors — all of whom are between the ages of 18 and 20, and residents of Reese Hall — demanded money.

They stole a watch, sunglasses and $15, according to records.

No weapons were involved, but the residents told police they felt intimidated by the eight students, who insinuated they would hurt the victims if they didn’t cooperate.

Those charged are: Jackson L. Smith, 19; Connor M. Tipsord, 19; Logan P. Trent, 19; Matthew A. Wandi, 19; Esai Diaz, 18; Ethan B. Levy, 20; Blake A. Wallace, 19; Charles T. Howe, 20.

Most had no arrest record in Knox County. Trent and Levy have faced alcohol-related charges in recent months.

Wallace was arrested in November on felony drug charges after an officer found 3.5 ounces of marijuana, two digital scales, a plastic grinder and other paraphernalia in his car. He also faced a theft charge for swiping UT dining trays, valued at $20, found in the car.

The entire robbery took about 25 minutes, during which members of the group were shouting and “demanding” money they believed Brown had stolen from one of the group’s members.

Brown and Burk reported the robbery to UT police three days later. UT officials did not issue a campuswide safety alert because of the delay in reporting the robbery, officials said in the email.

UT police arrested six suspects Wednesday and two others were expected to turn themselves in Thursday, according to the email. Each will face two counts of robbery, according to UT.

All eight students were still enrolled in school as of Thursday. UT officials would not comment on whether the students will continue to live in Reese Hall, but said housing contracts can be canceled if a student has violated university policies.

Though students are entitled to a disciplinary hearing, the university can cancel the contract in the interim if accused students are deemed a danger to others, said UT spokeswoman Karen Simsen.
