At the Height of Bernard Herrmann’s Movie Career, He Even Composed Stunning Music for TV Shows, Particularly for a New, 30-Minute Drama Called The Twilight Zone

[“Bernard Herrmann’s Classic Score to Joseph L. Mankiewicz’ Fantasy, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)”; and

Vertigo (1958): Bernard Herrmann’s Complete, Immortal, Original Soundtrack to Alfred Hitchcock’s Greatest Masterpiece (63 Minutes of Music!).”]

About two years earlier, Herrmann had composed the score to Hitchcock’s Vertigo, from which you’ll hear echoes in this work. Note, too, that this episode only ran 23 or 24 minutes, and yet Herrmann composed over 15 minutes’ worth of music for it.

“Walking Distance”: Season 1, Episode 5, The Twilight Zone
