The New York Times v. Joe Wilson

By Nicholas Stix

The New York Times has unleashed its intellectual heavy artillery on Cong. “Joe” Wilson, he of “You lied!” fame, for calling out the racist John Doe, alias “Barack Obama,” who broke into the White House, and who does not intend to ever leave it.

In “Parsing Mr. Wilson’s Apology,” New York Times columnist Gail Collins tries to give her take on the new and not-so new DNC talking points, plus a side of snark. Collins can be a witty writer when she is thinking for herself, but not so much when she is playing ventriloquist’s dummy.

I’d have been willing to bet that we had a national consensus on the undesirability of a congressman yelling out “You lie!” during an address by the president of the United States. But no. It turns out there are quite a few people who think this is a good idea.

Joe Wilson, who will be forever known as the “You lie!” congressman, unless he does something even weirder in the future, has a lot of fans this weekend at the Taxpayer March on Washington. This is an anti-Obama demonstration organized by FreedomWorks, the group that helped bring us the summer town hall meeting protests.

Those were, of course, the events where we learned that we did not actually have a national consensus on the inadvisability of bringing loaded weapons to places where the president is speaking.

Among the co-sponsors of the march are the Tea Party Patriots, who helped bring us those anti-tax rallies last spring, during which we learned that there are some patriots who love the country so much that they would like to see their state secede from the union.

And now they also love Joe Wilson. “People need to stop being afraid and not bite their tongues,” one of the marchers told the newspaper The Hill. Actually, fear of self-expression does not seem to be that big of a problem with this group, but Wilson undoubtedly appreciated all the supporters who honored him by yelling “Liar!” as often as possible.

The tea party movement activists range from geeky Ron Paulists who obsess about the money supply to conspiracy theorists who believe that Barack Obama is a noncitizen brought here by people who hate this country and had the foresight to plant a birth notice in a Hawaiian newspaper 48 years ago, just in case they ever needed it.
The one thing that unites them seems to be a sense of inchoate rage. Although mentioning it makes them really, really mad.

[Angry white males. Got it? That one is vintage 1994.]

“Perhaps that’s why they like Joe Wilson. (His actual name is Addison Graves Wilson Sr. Where do the Republicans find all these faux Joes?)”

This does not seem like a great excuse. Wouldn’t you rather admit it was a
plan than say you had so little self-control…

[This was the only fundamentally new DNC talking point: ‘Wilson had planned his outburst, all along.’ Unless one is an Obamaton, I’m not sure what the significance of this point is, and if one is an Obamaton, I’m not sure what its significance is, beyond saying, “Joe Wilson (place anything or its opposite in this blank), boo! Hiss!”]

Collins then lies about the health care bill,

Meanwhile, just to make sure nobody else ever goes off the rails like this again, the Senate Finance Committee is changing its version of the health care bill from one that does not provide benefits to illegal immigrants to one that absolutely, positively, for sure does not provide benefits to illegal immigrants.

[In recycling the DNC talking point from last spring, Collins sought to mock opponents of Doe/Obama, by linking them with Rush Limbaugh. That will surely cause all Rush Limbaugh fans in the DNC and on the Manhattan’s Upper West Side to die with shame.]

Over at the Taxpayers March, people wanted the Republicans to apologize for asking Wilson to apologize. They seemed to be taking a cue from Rush Limbaugh, who said he was “ecstatic” when Wilson yelled at the president, since he himself had been shrieking “liar” at his TV throughout the speech.

Tea Party Patriots, do you really want your members of Congress doing something just because Rush Limbaugh does it? The next thing you know, they’ll be abusing prescription drugs and comparing the Abu Ghraib tortures to a fraternity initiation.
Interestingly, very few of Wilson’s defenders have noted that in the British Parliament, members shout insults all the time.

Actually, Gail, Wilson’s defenders have noted just that. You lied…again.

Times plagiarist Maureen Dowd, the aging but still beautiful, spurned former lover of Michael Douglas, went Collins one better the next day. In “Boy, Oh, Boy,” Dowd, speaking of the “brainy black president,” exercised the nuclear option. (A tip 'o the hat to Larry Auster.)

The normally nonchalant Barack Obama looked nonplussed, as Nancy Pelosi glowered behind.

[That should be, “behind him,” Maureen.]

Surrounded by middle-aged white guys — a sepia snapshot of the days when such pols ran Washington like their own men’s club — Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!” at a president who didn’t.

[But of course Doe/Obama lied. And in denying that, you lied, Maureen.]

But, fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy!...
I’ve been loath to admit that the shrieking lunacy of the summer — the frantic efforts to paint our first black president as the Other, a foreigner, socialist, fascist, Marxist, racist, Commie, Nazi; a cad who would snuff old people; a snake who would indoctrinate kids — had much to do with race.

I tended to agree with some Obama advisers that Democratic presidents typically have provoked a frothing response from paranoids — from Father Coughlin against F.D.R. to Joe McCarthy against Truman to the John Birchers against J.F.K. and the vast right-wing conspiracy against Bill Clinton.”

[Wow! She pulled out court historian Richard Hofstadter's chestnut, whereby all opponents of socialism/communism/whatever are "paranoid."]

But Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president — no Democrat ever shouted “liar” at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq — convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it.

“A lot of these outbursts have to do with delegitimizing him as a president,” said Congressman Jim Clyburn, a senior member of the South Carolina delegation. Clyburn, the man who called out Bill Clinton on his racially tinged attacks on Obama in the primary, pushed Pelosi to pursue a formal resolution chastising Wilson.

“In South Carolina politics, I learned that the olive branch works very seldom,” he said. “You have to come at these things from a position of strength. My father used to say, ‘Son, always remember that silence gives consent.’ ”…

[If only John McCain had taken that lesson to heart!]

It may be President Obama’s very air of elegance and erudition that raises hackles in some. “My father used to say to me, ‘Boy, don’t get above your raising,’ ” Fowler said. “Some people are prejudiced anyway, and then they look at his education and mannerisms and get more angry at him.”

Clyburn had a warning for Obama advisers who want to forgive Wilson, ignore the ignorant outbursts and move on: “They’re going to have to develop ways in this White House to deal with things and not let them fester out there. Otherwise, they’ll see numbers moving in the wrong direction.”

Clyburn was one of the racist black politicians and operatives who engineered the “fairy tale” race hoax on the eve of last year’s South Carolina primary against Hillary Clinton, on behalf of Doe/“Obama,” that rhetorically handcuffed Clinton for the balance of the campaign, as her rival’s surrogates established the unwritten rule that any criticism of him, even by a Clinton, was “racist.” By repeating the hoax, Dowd is reinforcing it.

Of course, given some of the crimes Doe/“Obama’s” critics have charged him with, race-baiting may be the least of his sins.

Then again, the media elite have promoted the notion since at least 1963, that any criticism of blacks, or resistance to black or racial socialist rule is “racist.” The difference over the years has been in the media and black elites’ respective continual upping of the ante.

In “Obama’s Squandered Summer,” white Times drama queen Frank Rich shocked me by not playing the race card. Rich called the health care speech “(mildly) partisan,” and his only reference to Wilson was,

Indeed Obama instantly gained a foot or two in height Wednesday night once that South Carolina clown hollered “You lie!”

Rich called on Doe/“Obama” to rule more aggressively. More aggressively? What would that entail, televised executions on the White House lawn?

Attacking “white men,” and demanding that they commit political suicide is second nature to Rich, and was his sole strategy in seeking to get Doe/“Obama” elected last year. He will again play the race card.

* * *

I thought the DNC was done with Limbaugh, and had moved on to Glenn Beck.

While listening to the speech, I couldn’t make out what Wilson shouted, but I had already said “Liar” to my TV numerous times, and was far from done. What else are you supposed to call a liar?

Joe Wilson spoke for the over 100 million white Americans whose letters are suppressed by the racist media, e.g., the NYT, who have to endure racial socialist “diversity training” at work and in school, losing college admissions, jobs, anmd promotions to unqualified blacks and Hispanics, savage, racially-motivated black and Hispanic crime, and racist blacks, Hispanics, and whites who demand that they underwrite their own dispossession and disenfranchisement.

My only disappointment was that Wilson apologized to Doe/”Obama.”

* * *

It always drives me nuts when whites respond to racial attacks with, “This isn’t about race!” During the Duke Rape Hoax, whites who defended the three white victims of racist black hoaxer/prostitute Crystal Gail Mangum, continually would protest to the racist blacks supporting Mangum, “This isn’t about race!”

Of course, it was about race. It was about nothing but race.

Mangum and her fellow racists sought to railroad the three victims because they were white and innocent. Had they been black and guilty as hell, Mangum & Co. would have left them alone. John Doe/“Barack Obama” is a biracial racist who seeks to destroy white America. Gail Collins, Maureen Dowd, and Frank Rich are white racists who seek to destroy white America. Rich, in particular, is a leading figure of the New White Racism.

When are whites finally going to aggressively respond to racial attacks as racial attacks, instead of engaging in denial? When it is too late, and they have been reduced to minority status in their own country, and disenfranchised and dispossessed? When they are already bound and gagged and being anally gang-raped by a racist black attacker? When their killer’s first bullet rips into their back?
