  3. 15 NIGS GET SHOT ON PULASKI ROAD,AT NIG HALLOWEEN PARTY--PULASKI ROAD?

GRA:Were the 15 dressed up as Whites?

    .

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Fifteen people were injured in a mass shooting at a West Side Halloween party early Sunday, police said.

Police said gunfire erupted just after 1 a.m. in the North Lawndale neighborhood's 1200 block of South Pulaski Road.

Six women and nine men were shot, police said. The victims' ages range from 26 to 53 years old.

Police said 26-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition. The other victims were initially listed in good to fair conditions.

About 100 people were gathered to celebrate Halloween, CPD said during a press conference later Sunday.

"We was in here, having a fun, good time. And, there was arguing. The party had to be let out. All you hear was gunshots. People ducking on the floor, women screaming," said Tywon Tunstall, who was at the party.

Hosted by three local social media comedians, the party was, according to some of those there, wrapping up. Tunstall, a fellow comedian, said people were being checked for guns at the door. On Sunday, he spoke out against those who would shoot into a crowd of people.

"Stupid people with guns kill people. I'm an ex-gang banger, but I put the guns down, because I value my life, you know? People should value life out here. We're trying to stand up and be good for the community, you know, and try to make people laugh, because laughter brings joy," Tunstall said.

    (GRA:Tunstall talks big,but he'll kill again.)

Police said the shooter was quickly identified and placed into custody. Officers recovered his weapon.

"Victims relate that the suspect was ejected from the party, and came back a few minutes later and began to shoot," said 10th District CPD Commander William Betancourt.

Alderwoman Monique Scott, who represents the 24th Ward, also spoke at Sunday afternoon's press conference.

"I don't know whether to scream or to cry. We shouldn't be out here on a Sunday because somebody couldn't get into a party," Scott said.

Party-goers told responding officers that the suspected shooter had been kicked out of the gathering, and he later returned with a gun before opening fire.

Resident Will Ricks witnessed the aftermath, including seeing the gunman running away from the scene, only to later find out one of his friends was among the injured.

"He's doing alright right now. He just got shot in the leg. I'm waiting to pick him up from the hospital," Ricks said.

CPD officials said they are opening an emergency assistance center for people impact by gun violence on Tuesday at 1241 South Pulaski Road. It will be open from noon to 7 p.m.

  4. 2 DEAD,18 SHOT IN TAMPA BAY SUNDAY MORNING.

GRA:Halloween is now officially dangerous with minorities around. They've ruined another holiday.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- A fight between two groups turned deadly in Tampa when a shooting during Halloween festivities resulted in two deaths and 18 people hospitalized early Sunday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the shooting in Tampa just before 3 a.m. on the 1600 block of East 7th Avenue in the Ybor City area, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said during a press conference at the scene.

The fight occurred in an area with several bars and clubs, and there were large numbers of late night revelers in the area at the time, Bercaw said. Police were not immediately sure if the people involved in the fight were inside any of the bars before the shooting.

    Gunfire erupts at Halloween celebration
Video posted online shows people in Halloween costumes drinking and talking on the street when shots ring out, creating a stampede. Some people topple over metal tables and take cover behind them. Video from the aftermath shows police officers treating several people lying wounded on the ground.

A volley of about a dozen shots rang out followed a few seconds later by a volley of about eight shots.

"It was a disturbance or a fight between two groups. And in this fight between two groups we had hundreds of innocent people involved that were in the way," Bercaw said.

He did not provide details of the injuries suffered by the victims taken to area hospitals.

Motive for Tampa shooting unknown, police say.
One suspect turned himself in to police, and investigators believe there were at least two shooters involved, Bercaw said.
