MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A toddler who died in a South Memphis apartment fire was laid to rest Saturday.

Investigators say 3-year-old Ladareon Dunn and his 2-year-old brother were home alone last Monday when the apartment caught fire.

Ladareon later died from his injuries. His younger brother remains hospitalized in critical condition at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center.

On Saturday, family members gathered for Ladareon's memorial service at Pearly Gates Baptist Church.

His mother, Melanie Dunn, averted her eyes as pall bearers carried the tiny white casket to a waiting Hearse that would take the child to his final resting place.

Authorities say that when Dunn's younger son is released from the hospital, he likely will not be returned to his mother. Police have not yet said whether Dunn will face charges.

A third child, a five-year-old, is staying with family.
