ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I'm now working remotely from home and only go downtown occasionally, so no longer have my 'office eye" view of the protests, besides that, I'm getting too old for field reporting, last thing I need to do is catch a rubber bullet in my teeth. Really though, it's much ado about not much, I've observed many of these protests over the years, and it's just a few young knuckleheads with too much time on their hands that get rowdy and break a window here and there. The ones who do the actual action, which doesn't last long, are mostly teens or 20 something White males burning up youthful energy because they can't figure out another way to do it. The older "protestors' just wave signs, sing songs and act self righteous. One thing you notice is how fractured they are, even though ICE is sort of the galvanizing issue, there are different groups latching onto the protest to push their own agenda. You'll see groups at an "ICE" protest with signs supporting everything from lgbtq issues, animal rights, blm to the green energy scam. In the past, I've actually tried to engage some of these people in a discourse, but that has gotten dangerous. You can do that with the older "old guard" 60's, 70's, 80's liberal types but the new wave of young woke ideologues refuse to debate whatsoever, they quickly become angry and threatening, especially nowadays. I suspect one of the reasons they've gotten worse is that these people have all watched Charlie Kirk, or other conservative debaters, and are furious at the way they get beat down in public debates, they know they can't win a debate so anger and threats have become their default response.
I meant,just summaries of local noise reports,not going into the crowds--hell no. Too many mass murderers out there now.

ReplyDeleteLocal reportage is the usual hand wringing. Commie mayor and city counsel, who have quadrupled down on pdx being a sanctuary city for illegal criminals, announcing a lawsuit against the Trump and the Feds. A lot of complaining by leftists about how federal troops mean fascism and a loss of civil rights. It doesn't dawn on them that police, army, marines whatever are always there, armed to the teeth and ready to take action any time there is a serious enough threat to the state, whether or not they are on the street or not, it doesn't make any difference other than visibility. The usual stuff except here the high percentage of woke ideologues makes it a little worse.
