“(zh) defeated special counsel Jack Smith and his team are planning to resign before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, the ny times reports, citing a source familiar with the matter.
“the news comes days after Smith moved to pause his j6 case against Donald Trump and vacate all remaining deadlines. according to the new report, Smith’s office has been looking at the best path forward in winding down its work on the two outstanding federal criminal cases against Trump – as the doj has a longstanding policy not to charge or prosecute a sitting president with a crime.
“Smith’s departure is more of a ‘you can’t fire me, I quit!’ after Trump vowed to fire him within ‘two seconds’ of being sworn in.”

ReplyDeleteGaetz was accused of sex trafficking just a couple years back:

His associate Joel Greenberg did plead guilty to some charges but the case against Gaetz was closed in 2023. Gaetz felt the justice dept. had been weaponized against him. The case, on the surface, did seem a bit thin because it hinged around him attending a party that underage girls allegedly also had attended. That experience may make him very simpatico with Trump and maybe part of the reason he was tapped.
Re-publican Re-venge could be sweet.

Jack Smith spent $50 million on this. Should be one heck of a "final report" and then the Biden White House Holiday party. And a kwanzaa bash at the naval observatory with the F-off Emhoffs.
