“multiple victims reported following shootings in Lewiston

“the city is on lockdown as maine state police and other agencies investigate three separate shootings. residents are being told to stay in their homes and keep doors locked.

“Lewiston police vehicles are parked next to sparetime recreation in Lewiston on wednesday night following reports of an active shooter.

“Lewiston — multiple people have been shot and wounded in three separate incidents wednesday night in Lewiston.

“police, fire and rescue personnel descended on sparetime recreation on Mollison way about 7:15 p.m. after a report of an active shooter. shortly after, reports started coming in that there was another shooting at Schemengees bar & grille restaurant on Lincoln street.

“a person is seen in security camera footage carrying a rifle near the door at sparetime recreation in Lewiston on wednesday evening. multiple people have been reported shot.

“Lewiston public information officer Derrick St. Laurent told the sun journal at about 8:15 p.m. that another shooting was reported at the Walmart distribution center on Alfred A Plourde parkway.

“early reports, though unconfirmed by police as of 8 p.m., were that there are multiple people shot, some with possibly fatal injuries.

“Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for maine state police, said on social media that the staging area for police is at city hall.

“‘there is an active shooter situation in the city of Lewiston. law enforcement is asking people to shelter in place. please stay inside your home with the doors locked,’ she said. ‘Ii you see any suspicious activity or individuals, please call 911.’”

“(X) currently, numerous emergency personnel and other authorities are responding to an active shooter in Lewiston, maine. reports indicate that at least 16 people, possibly more, have been shot and injured. it is unclear if there are any fatalities. the shooter has been firing at multiple locations, and an emergency alert has been issued, asking people to avoid the area and shelter in place as the suspect is still at large. this is a developing situation”
